amd is best for medium and low end gpus. nvidia is only nonshit for the highest end stuff, but very few poeple actually buy 980tis. everything below the 980ti is much better on amd.

AMD has the greatest advantage exactly at high-end, where the 390 and 970 sit. The 390 is better than the 970 enormously.
super high end cards they're equal, the fury X and 980ti being basically the same right now.

The whole "AMD drivers are so shit" thing is frankly annoying as fuck, and I say that as someone who switches back and forth between brands depending on which is better for the price point. If anything, my experience with AMD drivers were FAR more positive than my experience with Nvidia's. Nvidia releases buggy as fuck drivers all the damn time, because they always rush to get one out whenever a big name game is released, whereas AMD takes the time to do proper QA on their driver releases.

Pretty much. 970 owner, and the last few months have been nothing but a headache with Nvidia. I never download their drivers right away anymore--always check forums and shit to make sure there's no catastrophic problems.
