960 4gb

>>335931654

whatever good deal you can find on your local craigslist or buy/trade/sell sites. Both AMD and Nvidia are fucking people who buy new as far as price to performance goes.

Seriously, 680's go for around 75$ where I live. Do a little looking and you'll be glad you did.

PS4 with uncharted 4 and bloodborne.
>>
Thats sad that it broke anon, i still have a working GTS 450 in my old gaming pc its like my firstborne son

See if you can get a pre-owned GTX 980 for around $200 nowadays. I got mine for $250 last year.
>>
>>335931654

Wait for pascal, they're announcing it next week
>>
380x obviously
>>
>>335932191
do you believe that announcement will have a domino effect on lower power gpu prices?
>>
>>335932616

probably not until they're actually released and people are getting rid of their old GPU's for the new ones.
>>
>>335932245
Basically the only good $200 GPU.

Two R9 380Xs perform within the Fury X/GTX980Ti performance tier

That true 4GBs of ram means more in crossfire
>>
>>335931654
listen to me get the gtx 960 forget about the mumbo jumbo spec comparing shits, real time usage experience is what counts and this card does it and does good
>>
>be you
>use integrated grphics card
now you can play like 99% of worthwhile PC games (so like a 5 games)

>then buy any console
>>
Buy some cheap outdated shit off ebay and wait for Polaris/Pascal.
Polaris/Pascal will be at least 50% faster for the same price, so anything you buy today is obsolete

Has 8 ACEs and double the tessellation performance of the HD7970

For $210 its the only appropriate GPU for the money. Just be patient with new release. Go through your backlog of games that struggle with the GTX460

The high end guys are stupid. Nvidia has been forced into high end GPU competition where AMD literally owns the middle. The guys who want way better than console quality in games but don't want to spend $500+ are all better off with AMD. The R9 390X is a better GPU for the money than the GTX980.

PCfag here, I'm actually curious about this reaction. Except for a few exclusives, why would you ever bother with a console? By the time it's released the hardware is outdated, you have no control over the experience, it has little use outside of playing games and watching movies, and in a few years time you have to buy a completely new one. You're almost nickle and dimmed for features a PC gets by default and you can't even use mods to liven up games. There's little to no backwards compatibility, no support for older games, and a PC can emulate a lot of the older consoles no problem.

I can understand #GMPCGR retards leaving a bad taste but even after the fact why still bother with a console? Is it the difficulty in making a PC? The most difficult part is choosing the parts and your budget. There are plenty of communities that are willing to do the work for you and it only takes a few hours at best to get something you want. Is it the inconvenience? I can understand just wanting something that "just works" but the above mentioned drawbacks leave something to be desired. Is it the expense? You can get a comparable PC for the price of a console. In addition you have something far more flexible and capable of improving.

Tell me anon, no disrespect, consoles don't seem ideal at all. Why get a cookie cutter stale product that relies on crap like console exclusives to be competitive?
>>
>>335935625
I can see the PS4 going down to $200 pretty soon. There's no PC that can compete with a price like that
>>
>>335934780
>>335935305
Rumors point to the first Polaris card being the 480x, which will offer 980ti/Fury X performance for $300. The cut down version of that chip (480) will probably be $250 and still offer performance in the 980/Nano/390x range.
>>
>>335935783
I bough mines for 240, already have a pc.

>>335935625
Japanese games that never ever hit pc, they might not be exclusive to the ps4 but you just can't play them on PC.
>>
>>335931654
I got a 960 with 4gb (don't get a 2gb one)
but if I could go back I'd get a 380x because nvidia cards are planned for obsolescence when a new line hits
>>
>>335933391
>Ever taking crossfire/sli over a single GPU
OP don't be this moron
>>
>>335935783

>>
>>335935625

Exclusives that are worth a damn are all on consoles, unfortunately.

Also, no one I know can be bothered to build a PC, so consoles it is.
>>
Realized how few graphic intensive games I actually play after I bought a GTX960.

Granted, pricier card will last longer but still my 960 has been a Dark souls 3 machine so far.
>>
>>335936282
I'm not saying you should with a dual GPU setup. However it a $420 performing with $650-$1000 GPUs is impressive no matter what your opinion of dual GPU is
>>
increase your budget to $300 and get a GTX 970

I can think of like 4 off the top of my head, and only 2 of them are any good.
>>335935625
Consoles used to be worthwhile for splitscreen, but aside from Nintendo consoles, that's basically non-existent.
>>
>>335937554
My thoughts exactly. $400 is much more realistic
>>
>>335935783
$200 might make it worth it. I owned all three consoles last generation. Shelling the initial cost is what made me decide to try PC instead

>>335936129
I can see that being a good reason if that's what you're really into keep doing you anon.

>>335936352

Exclusives is my main gripe. Kind of salty I can't play bloodbourne.

Also PCs are surprisingly easy to build. The hardest part is actually knowing wtf you need which can be intimidating.

pcpartpicker is a good stepping stone, and as awful as reddit can be, the subreddit /r/buildapcforme has a great guide and a bunch of guys that do all the work for you.

>>335937692
I miss splitscreen. Hey at least you can emulate all those old games!

It's like trying to build a rocket to them.
>>
>>335938305
building a computer is literally putting legos together, anyone can do it if they bother to read the fucking instructions and look for a tutorial online
>>
>>335937554
it's called competition. Both AMD and Nvidia will have a card in that performance range.
$250-$350 is the reasonable price range for Polaris 10.
1070 will be in the same price range.
1080 will be $500+ overpriced shit.

>>
>>335938468

Still expecting too much.
>>
>>335938305

>using the word normie

Why exclude people or be dismissive anon? It's probably so intimidating because most consumers are used to having pre-builts sold to them, yet a lot of people can change the oil of their car or do other maintenance and that's objectively much harder.

>>335938468
This exactly. There's hundreds of videos on youtube. Building a PC from unboxing to configuring the OS takes an afternoon at most unless you have issues which are pretty easy to troubleshoot.
>>
>>335931654

>>
>>335935625
You're just an autist. I've always used both a PC and console for gaming, since Doom and Super Mario, and the state of PC gaming has NEVER been worse.

All the old PC devs are dead, and all there is now are ASSFAGGOTS, MMOs, indieshit, and fucked up console ports.

And you STILL can't build a PC that outperforms a PS4 for under $400, almost 3 years into the generation.
>>
>>335931654
wait for new pascal shit to come out. if you cant wait, get a new card.
got me a gtx 960 4gb for $210
gl m8
>>
>>335939346

>You're just an autist.

Because?

I can understand the frustration from Greenlight and kickstarter but that's a poor excuse to say PC gaming is worse. There are plenty of great games being made. Steam and other platforms are flourishing so it's a lot easier to find what you like.

The initial cost can be rough but after getting a case and PSU you never really need to buy those again and other upgrades become incremental.
>>
>>335935783
I can't see ps4's going for $200 until this generation's over. maybe $300 after ps4k launches, which probably won't be until q4

>>335938164
/r/buildapcforme is shit. I told them exactly what I was looking for and they just told me to go to pcpartpicker myself

>>335940027
everything I've read says psu needs to be upgraded fairly regularly (3-4 years). hardware prices will never compete with consoles
>>
r9 380x even though AMD is shit and I'm scared cuz some random program will not work because oh fuck there's a bug in the driver!

fuck AMD. can't even upgrade my shitty card to something good in the $230 price range until nvidia releases the 1000 series fuck
>>
>>335931654
if you're wanting to stick with Nvidia, you can get used 970's for $250.

Meme card aside, it's good for that price, especially if you're sticking with 1080p

>>335941034

pcpartpicker gives you basic build loadouts and from there you can see variations people have made with benchmarks and lists. Sounds like that's all you needed. Maybe you were confused? Also PSUs needing an upgrade every 3-4 years sounds off unless you're really pushing the PC. 5 years for a new PSU and GPU is about right. If you get behind the generations like right now you still have a decent performing PC at a good value.
>>
>>335931980
>choosing 960 over r9 380

Honestly, the 960 is inferior compared to the the 380.
>>
>>335941731
i'm glad you responded with this, because this is what absolutely pisses me off about the upcoming architectures (unless nvidia plans on supporting async compute at the hardware level).

it'll be shitty buggy garbage fucking AMD support vs. well-supported nvidia cards that perform less for more money.

the best videocard i could afford now is a 960 for $180 or something like that. i've no idea why nvidia didn't release a 960 ti in the ~$250 range.
>>
>>335941807
I know how pcpartpicker works, but the point of that sub is you tell them what you want and they'll put together a configuration for you. they didn't give me that. They just gave me a link to the homepage
>>
>>335942539

That's pretty low effort. Sorry that happened anon.
