Is Dark Souls worth starting? I realised I have Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition in my steam library (probably from my brother). Is this game worth starting or is it just a meme?
I heard one of the games was garbage but I don't know which one.
It's the best one in the series and a genuinely great experience if you get into it properly and enjoy it.

Depends on how much you know already. If you make it back where you previously died you can get your collected souls back, I'm not sure if this is even explained in the game since it's something I've always known about.
Pick any class, the only difference between characters is their starting stats. You can start with a mage and dual-wield claymores if you want or you can pick a knight and focus on miracles. Just go where your heart takes you.
At the start of the game as you leave Firelink Shrine if you find skeletons in a graveyard you're going the wrong way, turn the fuck around or you'll get roasted.
It's balls to the wall hard until you really know what you're doing and you learn how to make the most out of your attacks, learn how enemies behave etc. but it's rewarding as hell if you decide to stick with it, good luck Anon.

actually, when that anon said unlock fps to 60, change the 60 in the ini file to 30, 60 fps gets pretty wonky at some areas but keeping it to 30 will keep it steady. also make sure that when you unhollow by bonfire, wait a few seconds before doing so or else you'll get glitch and sit at the bonfire forever.

Don't play it like any other RPG you've played before, playing it balls to the wall like Skyrim or something will wreck you; take your time and learn your enemies' movesets. DaS actually makes you work to git gud.
Also don't expect any spoonfeeding story-wise, you are on your own to figure that shit out, or at least play through the game once and THEN read lore threads.
