I killed the Nameless King within a couple of minutes but that vertical fire burst in Phase 1 is nearly unavoidable. You have to start to escape from it as near as the boss starts flying

I think you can avoid it altogether, it only triggers if you're under dragon's belly or behind him.
I tried it a few times the other night but I think I'm underlevelled, I do like fucking 65 damage a hit on his second form with a great sword and I can only get in one hit at a time so I think I'll come back later.
But the camera sucks shit for sure. Am I going to need to fucking claw grip my controller so I can actually move the camera around enough to see which attack he's going to use and dodge at the same time?

I locked on to the king rather than the dragon head and the kept my camera steady the whole fight and helped with hitting the dragon head but i missed a couple times because of it and it gets fucked up when you get to close. Its only a problem for the first form, lock on works fine on the second form.

What gear are you using? Your own Stats? A lot of the times he breaks the lock(ie: Phase 2 circles around you before going for a stab) is a massive cue to get ready to roll in the next second or two. For phase 1 its probably better to keep the camera locked on the king unless you need/want to lock onto the dragon head for some reason(ie:Slam Dunking Lightning Spears on its head). Pretty much Nameless comes down to the player's ability to learn patterns

Couldnt beat him in NG but I did beat him in NG+. The only difference is that I was using the Greatsword in NG and Anri's Sword in NG+ so that's probably why I won.

I think its just what he attacks with and if he mpvea around a lot
The trick is to lock on to Nameless King and not King of the Storms.
The dragon head whips around too much and god help you if you end up underneath him. A few aerial barbecues aught to teach you to try something else because his ass is no sanctuary.
The camera becomes much more manageable but I ended up staying locked on to Nameless King and then switching to King of Storms when it was time to start hitting so my character didn't swing in the air try to hit Nameless King instead of the big dumb dragon head.
It can be a bit of a hassle depending on your strategy, but I'd say overall the spectacle of the fight warrants a few wonky camera issues.

Are people retarded? You don't have to lock on at all, or if you are too lazy to adjust camera manually all the time, you just lock on until he is on the ground, then you press stick, unlock camera and run to dragon head.
First stage of this boss is literally Wind Waker first boss fight difficulty level.
