I grew up in a small town, like 2500 people.
There were no nerds, me and a handful of dudes were it. I was convinced I would go to art school, draw comic books, make videogames, make music, meet a girl, fall in love, live comfortably and be happy.
I remember, fuck I remember. It was like 2006, I was 16, playing Unreal Tournament because that's all my PC really could handle. I logged off to read webcomics until 2am and it started snowing outside. Unusual shit for an ocean-front town, but it was fucking snowing and I just stood quietly at the window next to my computer, watching it snow. Thinking about the girl I would meet, thinking about the life I would have.
But yeah. I called myself a "gamer" back then.
I became a chef because that's all I was ever good at and i'm not really good at it but no one has noticed yet. I'm a dude and I've been in an abusive relationship (Emotionally and some physical--straight btw) I live alone with a cat now.
I work 80 hour work weeks now, but last night I got to play some half-life2.
I don't know what I can do. I think it's over for me guys.

Gamer is a term used my the industry to give people who can't play sports the same mindset of a jock. It enforced the same brand/series loyalties that people have to sports teams.
Think of how stores always display sports on their TVs that they are trying to sell. This is because they know these dingledicks will pay anything to have the best experience for seeing millionaires play with a ball, the game industry does the same shit with things like Razor products.
People desire an identity and companies will sell it to you. It's the same reason people join cults.

Their gaming mice are pretty much GOAT-tier. Sadly my deathadder's scroll wheel finally broke after about 5 years of faithful service. I can easily replace the wheel but I ended up buying the new Chroma model because I didn't want to wait for the replacement part to ship and you can find Razer products pretty much everywhere, and I had been eying the Chroma for a while anyway. I'm still going to fix the old one, but I'll probably end up either giving it away or keeping it as a spare.

In the mouse's defense I probably abused that thing pretty badly with how much I use the middle mouse button, although in my own defense the material that the wheel shaft was made out of was just clear plastic and did not look very flexible or durable. The Chroma's wheel is made out of a more durable transluscent plastic so hopefully it doesn't happen again, though I may order a backup wheel from eBay just in case.
