NX is coming in spring of next year, not in the holidays of this year like everyone guessed
Zelda has been delayed to next year so it can have a dual release on Wii U and NX, which everyone already guessed but really just cements how much Nintendo regrets the Wii U and is trying to choke the remaining bit of life out of it so they can move on
E3 will be focused primarily on Zelda and little else, so it supposedly won't be the big NX reveal like everyone expected. Zelda's also apparently the only game playable on the show floor

Think of it as taking the legend of Zelda formula and make it card based tactics game that isn't even good.
It was originally an amazing turn based RPG series and pretty good beginner friend style with great writing, neat strategies and combat. Now it has become a game where battling enemies is a bad idea, the puzzles were tedious and it became a generic NSMB template. The combat is shit too.
I'm waiting for something good to release on the WiiU.
I actually feel bad that I'm not playing anything on it. I've enjoyed my time with it and I've got a decent library for it, I just want something new worth buying. Playing through fast racing neo made me realize how much I would like some more games for this console.

There's so much potential for cool shit with the wii u (more games using the tablet, gamecube games on virtual console, more interaction with the 3DS similar to what the gamecube had with the GBA, etc.).

Thing I miss most about the Gamecube was that Nintendo was willing to challenge expectations of them. Their flagship franchises took on weird new forms. They published a lot of dark shit that no one ever expected. One of their biggest titles for it was Metroid Prime.
Now they seem to be trying as hard as they can to play it safe with their franchises and are pushing the "family friendly Mario company" image harder than ever.

It was the third Paper Mario on the Wii that killed the franchise for me. I loved the first two paper marios even if they were essentially the Mario RPG formula being rehashed over and over.

I think the Wii signaled a time for me to stop fanboying over consoles, games and companies and just open my tastes up and look at games a bit more objectively. The Wii made me realise that Nintendo is just trying to make money like every other company, and really that's fine it's just how they do it that matters.

I'm really disappointed in the Zelda push back, I got a WiiU for the promise of 2016 Zelda with some ok games to play in the meantime. I play my gamecube more than my WiiU, that thing has been running Melee and some other amazing gems for me for years so I was fine with the WiiU being 'just another gamecube' but its less than that - complete dogshit.
Things seemed relatively strong with Xenoblade, Bayonetta & Splatoon coming out but after Smash was released and the big amiibo push came with it there was this sudden nosedive in the quality of games releasing. Unfortunately Pokken is going to get old real fast for me and Zelda was going to make this long year of jackshit worth it.
Not getting an NX unless something Melee related appears on it. Nothing will ever surpass the DS as a handheld console it was perfect, the perfect balance between price, technology, and innovative games.

This concession alone would make me feel slightly better--like say Nintendo went all in, and they poured lots of effort into lots of things to do with Amiibo rather than a few gimmicks here and there. But even then, it's just "Lets throw some shit together and sell it".
I cannot begin to describe how my heart sank when I saw this pop up in that direct. I didn't think it could sink lower when I heard people defending it.
They could make free games not dependent on physical DLC. They could sell figures for figures' sake, and not as an incentive to purchase a game with/for it. They could sell DLC for said games, period, and still manufacture figures which people would buy.
The decisions they're making just don't feel like they're going in the right direction, and now that they've found their golden goose there's no way they'd let it go. Much to my chagrin this also just means more of this shit for years to come. And I'm just sad.

Being turn-based doesn't have anything to do with it. The main focus of dungeon-crawlers is a exploring floors of huge dungeon/s, creating your own party, and the general flow of the game is MUCH different from, say, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Wild Arms, Earthbound, Tales of whatever, any other JRPG you can think of. It's a different genre because focused on something very different. EO isn't like BD or SMT4.

A lot of fans of games like Dragon Quest and Earthbound would most likely enjoy EO as well because of multiple similar elements (especially in DQ's case, where you have been able to make your own party in several games). I don't like taking JRPG as the bigger genre, it's so different from SRPGs, ARPGs, and Dungeon Crawlers. If I was searching for something like FF and you gave me Secret of Mana, it wouldn't be what I asked for (although a great game, not a JRPG). I wouldn't know what exactly constitutes a JRPG, but I can tell the difference between Legend of the Dragoon and Etrian Odyssey, they're distinctively different in genre.
I've given Nintendo enough chances at this point. I won't be buying an NX. I haven't bought a single Amiibo, I haven't bought a single shovelware game from them like Mario Tennis Ultra Smash and I haven't been buying rehashed shit like NSMBU/NSLU or Mario Party 10.
There isn't anything more I can do to show them they're fucking people over than simply not buying their next console at all. I don't care how little games you have to show, walking into the biggest gaming convention of the year with a single game (a game that has been delayed a ridiculous amount of times, so many that I'm not even interested anymore) is beyond unacceptable.
Fuck Nintendo. Being stuck in the past and completely ignorant of the outside world isn't endearing anymore, it's frustrating as hell. At this point there's nothing I want more than Nintendo crashing and burning and beginning to develop games for PC and the other console manufacturers.

carts are better than CDs for a number of reasons. you can put chips in carts to give the game a new layer of graphical power, while CDs are dependant of the systems power to work. you can save of a cart but not on a CD without a mem card. and they don't break easily.
space constraints are the only downside but now is the age of micro SD cards so that shit shouldn't really be a concern today.
