We have also found many skin imprints that show signs of scaly skin, but we also have many fossils with signs of feathers, both rock imprints and feather sockets in bones.

We don't really. They're guesses based on the environment they would have lived in at the time. If a dinosaur lived in an are that was covered in forests or jungles, it's not a bad guess to say that they probably had those kinds of colours for camouflage.

We DO know that a lot of them had feathers now. Some discoveries in a region of china, where volcanic ash caused the fossils in the area to be much better preserved, show dinosaurs with feathers from MUCH earlier than we previously thought. Since the 90s we've also learned a lot more about the things we need to look for in fossils.
