i mean, if you have say match3 game and the story is about killing people, you ought to make the gameplay compelling. Binding of isaac is pretty good in that respect

what
>Game analysis channels
Imagine basing your entire life around stories made for mental cripples and children yet trying to extract some deeper meaning.

for what purpose?

Dali made paintings that made no fucking sense because he just strapped stuff together that made him insecure yet people still look for deeper meanings to his work.
Why is it any different here?

>Being such a knucle dragging loser that's scared of actual literary works and instead care about the "stories" of games
They're games, what the fuck do you expect? Like talking of the "ludonarrative dissonance".
Fucking pathetic scum. Worm.
>>335803337
Like talking of the "ludonarrative dissonance" in porn*.

It's an art made from one's deepest mind, so people try to make a psychological connection between the elements from said art and the state of the mind. Still stupid, but understandable stupid.
>>335803414
>>335803337
are you okay?
>>335802985
It's actually pretty damn hysterical.
There are channels in which simply take the game and its shallow lore, gameplay, etc. and talk about it - but don't try to actually extrapolate anything from it. And then there are channels which will take a game like mario, and apply their useless english degree studies onto it.
It's funny to watch, like those fags who stare at that duplicate campbell soup art and think "wow this is deep". Fucking retards getting played hardcore by devs/artists.
>>335803337
what have you got against video game scholars?
>>335803691
It would be fun to watch if most of those channels didn't have their patreon linked in the donation box, netting them at least 30k a year before you count in the views.
Souls games have like 10 scholars raking cash, not counting the streamers.
>>335802985
There is a lot to talk about concerning video games if you observe the interaction itself as the narrative. There is nothing interesting to be said about Bioshock or Last of Us, but Yume Nikki and Killer 7 can offer some neat observations, even montage-wise.
Or you can talk about how driving sequences in Deadly Premonition made the whole hub come together through the example of chore-based interaction. Just don't be a retard and focus on writing in video games, or anything plot related.
>>335803691
I'll never get over that godawful Civ V "analysis" in which ES accuses a game based off of a board game filled with nonsense elements of being a nation-statist, culturally hegemonsitic piece of propaganda.
>>335805396
>>335803691
You do realize this is exactly what happens in 'high art' critique such as comparative literature analysis etc?
Read Harold Bloom's preface to Western Canon to see where everything went to hell. Or just read about Sokal affair on Wikipedia before they edit it into less crimethink of a piece.

you can disect tlou as a movie. or you can explain if the gameplay play well into the narrative or not. you can analyse while it is so popular, if people would like it so much if it was stripped off of all marketing... You are just a pretentious hipster if the only thing you want to dissect is some obscure games with some novelty.
>>335805609
I'm actually about to read Sokal's book on this right now. can't wait
