Why is MOBA used as a term to describe games like Dota and LoL?
I know the term has its origin in the HoN scene but "Multiplayer Online Battle Arena" is such a loose term that it could literally be used on 70% of multiplayer games out there.
I can't help thinking to myself when people say they're tired of the MOBA genre that "oh, so you're tired of almost every multiplayer game out there?".

anon, if you look at the top right of a thread, it tells you how many replies, images, posters, and what page it's on

Maybe you monitor every thread on /v/, but I haven't seen a dedicated thread in a while.

>its origin in the HoN scene
I was under the impression Riot coined the term.
>>335780767
Riot created it and they run the big dog so retards have used it more than any other term. Valve called them "ARTS" and it's a better name but also stupid. There's no good word for them, I still call them dota-likes.

Steve Feak coined the term before working at riot, but it apparently started gaining traction some time after HON's Beta release.
