Otherwise, I stay single player.
Single player. I like the lack of pressure and consistency. With multiplayer you have no fucking idea what you're going to get but with a good difficult single player game you're always steadily improving and getting challenged. Also all the big games require you to play in teams and I hate that shit.

Young me would prefer multiplayer games, since I had a blast with guild wars. But lately a lot of people I play with in mmos prefer to be mute lone wolves so I don't even bother with them anymore. So single player games.

I'm definitely more of a single player kind of guy, since I like playing at my own pace without worry. That being said I do love playing all sorts of games with my friends, and go through phases where that's all I want to do. Playing competitive multiplayer games solo though is an entirely different story. I did it a lot in the past but now I can barely stand it. The popular games are all more frustrating simply because everyone's trying to play like they're pro rather than just relaxing and having fun.
I can tell what kind of thread this is turning in to and I have to say, all of you disgust me.

Depends on what type of multiplayer.
Co-op with friends is always a blast, and beats singleplayer almost any day
but sometimes I'd rather a good singleplayer game over versus or competitive mp.
I play multiplayer with both friends and randoms, but it's more fun with friends obviously.
