/v/, is pic related worth getting if I never really cared about Digimon growing up? I like JRPGs and I've heard it's pretty fun.
>>
No, it's a pretty mediocre game. The only appeal it has is being Digimon fanservice, and all the cute girls.
>>
>>335754828
its good but the translation needs work.
personally i only saw the first season of the anime back then, so its neat seeing all these crazy later evolutions.
>>
>>335754954
ah that's a shame, though admittedly I'm enough of a fucking degenerate to get it for the cute girls. there any alt outfits and the like?
>>335755081
Yeah, I heard that there was some memeshit in it. is that the big issue, or does it get just generally incomprehensible?

how's the monster raising, by the way? that's one of the main points of interest for me.
>>
>>335755081
>its good but the translation needs work.

>Literally the first thing you see when you start a new game is this
What were they trying to do?
>>
>>335754828

Nope. It's just another turm based jRPG. Go play Re Digitize on PSP with the ENG patch.
>>
>>335755535
Re:Digitize is shit too, though. It's a dumbed down, more anime version of World.
>>
>>335755601

It's literally a remake of Digimon World 1.

Fuck you
>>
Get it dude its really good.
Someone whose spent over a hundred hours tryin to raise all the mons. Its cpmfy in that regard but it isn't dark souls if you need a challenge its still pretty easy on hard about halfway thru.
>>
>>335755770
I don't think you know what remake means.
>>
>>335755926

Boo hoo semantics. You know what I mean faggot.
>>
>>335756013
It's a successor. ANd it's a dumbed down, more anime one.
>>
>>335754828
It's better than any Pokemom game.
>>
>>335756093

Dumbed down? The first game was convoluted and a fucking mess.
>>
The game goes /x/ pretty early on and later on
>>
>>335756208
I'm not sure why you think that calling World convoluted means that R:D wasn't dumbed down.
>>
>>335755430
they translated the game through some file outside the game and didn't playtest properly. like some triple choices pop up but its displayed as 1 continuous sentence because the translator doesn't fully know japanese and probably just winged it.
some of the phone conversations from digimon at the farm aren't quite right.

but outside that the battles and monster raising are fun.
>>
>>335754828
I was never really into Digimon but I liked what I played of it. It's your standard monster collecting JRPG, and if you've been itching for a good no bullshit JRPG this will do the trick.
>>
>>335756181
That's not much of an achievement.
>>
>>335756327

Because how can it be dumbed down compared to the original.
>>
>>335756354
man this is going to sound dumb as fuck but translation issues like that are fascinating to me. I don't like to say that it sells me on a game because that sounds like rewarding poor effort, but I'm always interested in seeing how it turns out.

Also hearing about monster raising being fun and >>335756215 have convinced me to give it a go. thanks, anons
>>
>>335756354
>they translated the game through some file outside the game and didn't playtest properly.
That certainly doesn't fly for things like the opening movie. You don't add subtitles to a movie without even watching it.
Then there's also the blatant mistranslations like them referring to Bakemon as a monster because some idiot thought that it was a typo of bakemono.
>>
>>335755535
This is better though.
>>
I enjoyed it, it went balls to the walls by the halfway mark and I have been smirking ever since.

Posted in the wrong thread.

The translation is a bit shoddy. It's not SAO bad, but it's clearly not Bamco's best work. A few lines in dialogue seem out of place without any transition.

The digimon only make noise when they use their special attack. It makes battles seem a bit eerily quiet. Even a growl would be preferable to the silence.

The main character is a boring selfinsert. At least she talks in battle but other than that it's just ... and head nods.

Nokia and your character look far too similar. They should at least change her hair color or not have them both with similar length tied hair.

How quickly you just accept the situation and start working as a "cyber sleuth" is a bit weird.

I don't understand why text messages aren't sorted by person. Having all your texts in one screen just seems like a silly bad design choice.

Oh and about how it runs.

I swear there was some bad artifacting on the first cutscene for a second and then the bitrate caught up.

It looks good enough but there are some jaggies on the character models. Hard to notice though. The way dialogue is handled is like Bravely Default where you just see the character models talking in a side to side view. I think it works really well and suits it. Would like to see more games do this over static images. You get a lot of good emotes out of the characters without worrying about designing the background.

People mentioned loading times but it's not too bad. Pretty short loading times overall. I may have noticed if I played the PS4 version but it's perfectly acceptable on the vita.

It does feel a little bit sticky after you talk to someone. Like a split second before you can move your character again. This might just be how it's designed but I'm used to moving immediately after closing a text box.

Here's an example of some weird lines. Can't make heads or tails of it.

Is there any benefit to maxing your digimon's level before digivolving them? Like will their base stats or ABI go up just a tiny bit? Anything?
>>
>>335761702
ABI goes up a tiny bit
>>
>>335755430
>memeshit
That one guy using internet slang isn't the issue. There are just TL errors everywhere, poor editing, some text box issues as well. Basically enjoy you're Bamco loc

Did you play on the Vita? The total lack of AA is the most glaring problem with the game's visuals on the PS4.
>>
>>335762596
only if you sit three inches from your screen rather than on a couch like a normal person
>>
Worse than Neptunia
>>
>>335763025
You must have a tiny screen.
