Skyward Sword isn't even THAT bad.
Skyloft may be the best main town in a Zelda game, the bazaar was great, there are some great NPCs and the whole set of sidequests with them made for some comfy side stuff, there's a couple of great bosses like the Gold Statue with multiple arms, and the desert levels in general are top tier (Which sadly just emphasises how the other two zones don't really stand up). Sprinting was also a very welcome addition, and fuck everybody, I actually liked Fi when she wasn't doing the Nintendo protocol at the time of telling you to rest your eyes and change your batteries.
Sure, when it's bad it's usually because it's dragging on (Constant Imprisoned fights), or it feels a bit barren (Compare the flying section to WW's boating sections), or the reliance of just motion controls instead of giving an option (Personally had no problem with sword stuff, but the harp proved to be a nightmare). And this is the stuff people focus on. But there's still plenty of stuff they should expand upon in the future.
The way people go on, you would think it's the Zelda equivalent of Sonic 06.
