After getting a taste of Animal Crossing on a handheld, having to boot up my Wii U every day to play it would just feel like a hassle.
I hope it's like Pokemon and stays handheld exclusive from now on

Reminder that the App is being made to interface with the upcoming game. It's still coming. Nintendo is not the first company to do tie-ins like this.

A pretty significant portion of the Animal Crossing team has been working on Splatoon update content.
I think the obvious AC U that was in development was eventually moved over to NX, and the two spinoff games were developed to take its place.

I've got really really high hopes for the next edition of Animal Crossing, and if it's good, it will be what convinces me to buy an NX without a doubt in my mind. I just hope they don't screw it up. If they keep up with the additions they've been making, and they add the mechanics of HHD, I will be one very happy man.

I think watching this made me feel worse, holy shit these are all brilliant looking ideas and yet none of this will probably ever happen. We'll just get another rehash with some modest updates that will add to the game but will ultimately make it feel like every other one in the series with (insert here) added.
