At least they don't write social commentary opinion pieces. IGN is probably the least worst of the big gaming news sites today.

Yeah, they just include them in their reviews.
>>
>>335707951
This
If you ever see their reviews just remember they're all ultra casual faggots who play games for like 5 hours before writing reviews for them
Any comments of depth can be ignored
>>
>>335707637
Why do we have reviewers?

They get a game for a month to review, shit out a review after the embargo is up, and that's it.

Why not give the game to YouTube people and let them do extensive previews and shit, letting the consumer know exactly how a game works and shir

Pretty sure you don't have to read opinion pieces you don't like

There's potential for journalism media. It's as simple as figuring out exactly what makes a game decent. It's good news that science has that all figured out.

>>335708514
never thought of that before thanks for the tip :D

>>
>>335708420
you know game companies tend to show off games before giving them out for reviews anyway
>>
>>335707637
money scam will sadly never really be part of a review because reviewers get to test everything for free. While is sucks for shit like evolve, it avoids free shit game to get boosted score, or expensive good games to get lowered scores that lose relevance 6 month later when the price is cut.

>Op thinks a person giving a review is journalism

I'm so glad clods like you give me views and money.

What does that even mean?

I wanted to make it distinct that both reviews by major game news companies and vidya journalism in general are both cancerous in their current states.
>>
>>335708940
Video game "journalism" has more or less broken down. I haven't done an ounce of journalistic work in about 6 years. I'm not complaining though, pays the bills and puts plenty of food on the table.
>>
>>335709316
Exactly, that's the problem with all of this, it's not really any real news. It seems like they're more like blogs nowadays than actual journalism.

That being said, there's probably perks for being a "journalist" for one of these vidya news media places, but no real helpful information or people just start calling it all a cancerous system and even mentioning something like Kotaku gets a million replies of greentext.
>>
>>335709975
There are perks, of that I can assure you.
I'm about to head out, but here's what you need to know if you're trying to get a job in games media.

Your opinion, is irrelevant. No matter what happens in the industry, you see the good side of it. Everything is good and everything is a business. You understand that gaming is a business, but here's the important part. You understand why [insert company] has done [insert action here], but you think [insert opinion].

Stay neutral, always give praise that's followed by an opinion and then return to talking about how you "understand" the move.

I'm part of the problem. But I'm fine with that.
>>
>>335707637
Whats wrong with that review?
Game wouldve been a solid 9 if it werent for the devs retarded business decisions and the horrendous dlcs. Real shame honestly.
>>
>>335710472
If you're still there, are you the anon from the Splinter Cell thread that worked with ubi?

No.
Just no.
And I don't even think I need to explain myself. In fact, I won't.

I'm sure.
