What does /v/ think about rocket league? This is the one game that I think actually has potential to be a decent e-sport. Anyone can understand it easily, it takes real skill to get good at, and developing your own plays can benefit you in a game.
Nobody on /v/ cares about fun and good gameplay, they just want to meme on everything and call it bad for the sake of calling it bad.

It's pretty much a genius concept. Even if high levels of play require an autismal amount of effort and ability, it doesn't really matter because the game, at its core, it's fun at every level and it's about RC cars playing football. It's pretty much what those arena clones desperately try to be, and fail every fucking time.
It's awesome, but most of the community are shiteaters. I've had more than a few laughs looking at some of the most annoying faggots in the game's Steam profiles, and there's definitely a corelation.
That being said, it also showed me how almost every time I was getting my shit pushed in, I was getting matched with an enemy team that would have about double my playtime (500-600), last time someone with 1000.
The matchmaking could definitely be improved, and for god's sake, turn off bots on Hoops or some shit because they're just emberassingly awful since they won't fly.

I prefer arena shooters/fighting games when i'm interested in playing a competitive game. But i will say RL definitely has no issues i could see its a rock solid game just not my cup of tea.
I recently had put it down for a month or two to play other stuff.
Then a couple of days ago i booted it back up and now its all i can play again.
The formula and balance are just perfect.
Short, fast paced matches that are more often intense and exciting than not.
I remember thinking it was another flavor of the month game when it released and it still has a huge player base.

There is no integrety in the game. If you are doing badly you can just quit the game and let bots finish for you. If you were a football team and had a big match and the other team sent little leaguers to play again instead because they were busy doing something else your entire sport would fall apart.
Yeah at a "professional" level this wouldn't happen, but it does happen all the time day in day out as is. Anything trying to aspire to be better than what it is but still allowing shady shit like that to go down, will never get to where it aspires to be.
There is a fundemental mental flaw of the people playing. Not everyone wants to play it that seriously. Imagine trying to form the US but only 30 of the states are in a shape to join and fulfill their oaths, but you still do it.
