The only advantage the 3DS has over the PS2 and GC was that it had some programmable shader support and wasn't fixed shaders, but in every other GPU feature category clock speed/fill rate the PS2 and GC is much better. There is reason why Wind Waker and Twilight Princess wasn't ported to 3ds and Tales of the Abyss and Metal Gear Solid 3 is a clear downgrade from their console versions

I wouldn't say those are great examples of port jobs considering both of those were when devs just started making 3DS games in 2011-early 2012. MGS 3 was poorly optimized and could probably have been fixed via updates. Abyss 3D isn't to bad of a port if you don't mind losing 30fps in battles. They didn't bother upgrading 30fps to 60fps for Symphonia when porting the ps2 version to PS3 and PC despite being capable of it.
