I really liked how when you shot it, it was just a yellow key that floated in a straight line towards where you shot and how the guy on my team who got the key somehow missed the door and we had to trudge back to the other side of the room and pick the key up again. really great game, keep it up!

I've ALWAYS wanted to see the Federation's take on Samus, essentially with them coming to the conclusion that they should have their own little project where they try to replicate Samus or come up with some kind of super soldier that had destructive power comparative to Samus. Basically their super soldier program or something like the SPARTAN program from Halo.
But this is the most absolute underwhelming way they could've gone through with that idea. They could've done some cool shit with that idea, but this is just lame.

Doesn't particularly seem like SW to me. Personally I'm not a big fan of that myself, but I'd say this is more just straight up bland than anything else.
As a sci-fi thing, I'd say Metroid has always been incredibly light sci-fi, not that it really matters. Though the Prime games always did try to justify a lot of things and that was always really cool.

I wouldn't go that far.
Prime series in general was still very much like the 2D games. You still had Samus rolling into a ball (which was never explained and if you peer inside it, it just looks like "pure energy" or whatever), you still found new upgrades by finding Chozo statues, you had all the weirdness with Light/Dark Aether, Phazon in general, etc. I think the Prime series was fantastic with sort of 'grounding' the Metroid series to an extent, but only to the smallest extent in that a lot of that weirdness was explored in some way through the lore, being justified in some manner, etc. I think the Prime subseries was amazing at expanding the universe and setting, but at the end of the day, it was still very much in the same spirit as the 2D games.
I just want a new 3D FP or third-person Metroid with gameplay more like the 2D games.

Honestly, no fun posting or anything, but I've been excited for the game because I always liked the concept as a spin-off. I played the game at PAX and I liked it a lot so I'm definitely going to buy this one but even the people didn't hate it for several reasons, some of them understandable, other friggin laughable, Metroid has never been that big of a deal. It's a great series that sells well, but it's not a system seller.
I actually would've thought something like this would've been said on the new Kirby.
