Man the fucking enemies are vicious in this game, they chase you endlessly. One of the staple of souls game is that you can run past most enemies. Here it's literally trial and error all the way and you have to refight every single one of them. Am I missing something? Is there a parkour tech hidden somewhere? I don't mind it in the demo, but I imagine in the real game it'll get old real fast if you're fighting the same boss over and over again.

Switched to a Katana, unlocked some parry/bonus damage skills, and have been transitioning behind people after parries and getting critical attacks in the midst of mobs.

As for stances:
High stance is slow, high damage, shit rolls.
Mid is balanced with decent guarding/parries, but no heavy attack combo finishers.
Low is low damage but fast with excellent evades.
Switch on the fly for best results.

Funnily enough, the High stance in real Kendo/Kenjitsu is really over-powered since its so fucking fast to just chop the opponent's head. It's not the slow cut through the body swing in the game.
Low stance or Gedan is more parry/counter orientated and was primarily a counter to polearms. It's pretty rare these days since much fewer people train with Naginatans vs the Sword
Middile stance or Chudan is accurate as the most balanced stance with good blocking so it's the first stance that beginners learn.

As a soulsfag who's never played Ninja Gaiden, I kind of agree. The only original gameplay element are the stance change ability, and the special meter, and both of them feel awkward.
It's too similar to soulsborne, if I were them I'd at least try to put my own spin on it instead of just tweaking the formula to accomodate minor changes. Either way, I'm happy that the "souls meme" is being memed, since just about every other game feels so boring and pointless.

At least in Dark Souls and Bloodborne there's kind of a lore justification for that. I feel like the Souls element of the game (except the combat of course) is not necessary. It does a great disservice to the game because the "skin" is very dark souls like.

During the first phase I think it's actually better to stay close since you can reliably block the chain (I usually got my shit shoved down my throat trying to block the actual balls) and dodge through as well. During the second phase the tracking or timing on the throws feels wonky, I actually think it's easier to get back and dodge them from a distance since you actually have a clear visual.
