hang out in an area that gets invaded a lot with appropriate soul level and a weapon that isn't too far upgraded
it's area dependent, so you're only going to get summoned into the area you're already in for the most part. Remember that weapon upgrade level now effects matchmaking so don't rush to +10 like a retard
The only time I even saw this shit happen was when I invaded and the host got protected until then I didn't even knew they have a different blue than the blue sentinels

This happens to me all the time in different kinds of situations. I'll invade and the host immediately walks through the boss door, or I'll invade and the host / my target dies immediately, etc. The game takes so long to connect that by the time I show whatever I was there to do has already been done. The only time this doesn't happen is with co-op because the host will wait forever before trying the boss on his own.

Vertebra drop more in my experience. Also invading as a mad phantom is the best. I usually hide and wait for the host to summon a phantom, then just kill the phantom. They never expect you to ignore the host and blast the phantom.

Finished farming these last night. Was level 112, NG, +10 weapon bracket. I got summons every 20 minutes or so at peak hours. Not much, but it definitely helped with the farming. I imagine that proofs are something that you need to have in mind when you make a character and are progressing through the game. My friend rolled blue sentinels and hung around the Farron swamp at level 40, he got invasions every minute or so, but that was back at launch. It becomes an issue because people often just try to get all the items and spells towards the end of the game, but by then hardly anyone wears the way of blue covenant.
