it really bugs me that Krillin didn't let 18 go with him to fight Freeza. Freeza hadn't arrived yet and Krillin only knew about his arrival through Bulma calling him on the cellphone. To Krillin's knowledge at that time, 18's stronger than Freeza. Hell, the only people on Earth that Krillin should think at that time that can beat Freeza are Piccolo, Gohan, and 18. Makes no sense to leave her at home.
My favourite saga is the Namek/Freeza saga because Vegeta has a large role in it and you never know who you can trust. It's also got the best drawing style. Before everything got jagged but everyone's not 50cm tall and super round.

The arc already introduced loads different characters in almost every episode with Goku, Bulma, Yamcha, Puar, Oolong, Pilaf, Mai, Shu with some others for filler and then there are characters like Roshi, Turtle, Ox King and Chichi who are introduced but become relevant later. Roshi is the exception with him just showing up again to do a Kamehameha at the fire and that's it

The arc was a riff on Journey to the West. An already existing story. Of course there was story there. I don't see how story is being sacrificed.

At the same time though, some show Toriyama's unplanned and fast paced writing process more than others. From the 22nd TB to the Freeza arc, there's a pretty solid progression of character arcs, relationships, and world building.
Before that it was relatively more scattered, trying to find its footing. After that, it was trying to move outside of the box it put itself in.
I guess what I'm saying is that despite all of the manga being written by the seat of Toriyama's pants, some parts were pulled off better than others.

I prefer the Japanese voice cast and score, but Faulconer made some killer stuff for regular listening.
I don't think that the dub voices really go with e Japanese score. They were cast, directed, etc. with the replacement score in mind.
That said, I think the Japanese voices with the Faulconer score would be some awesome surreal shit to watch. Started as a Toonami babby, but now I'm all for that grandma Goku. Would be interesting to see both polar opposites of my fandom meld.

Most of their nefarious shit was done under the orders of Frieza. Pretty much the only thing they are culpable for is the (non-canon if I recall correctly) eradicating of the other sentient lifeform on their planet.
Tarble is even more amicable than his brother. Vegeta is pretty much the most rotten Saiyan left, and even he isn't that bad anymore. All things considered, Nappa, Vegeta, and Raditz probably turned out the way they did because a) their home planet was nuked from orbit, b) their parents died, c) they were kidnapped at a young age, and d) they trained under Frieza's forces to be hitmen.
