I think it's fucking shit they censored stuff in this game, and as much as I wanted it, I'm not going to pick it up. And yes, the changes will affect how some bits of the story play out, since it wont make as much sense.
But I wish people would drop this idea that the entire game is some sort of harsh critique of the idol industry. It's not. They have fun doing their shit, they like what they do, and they want to continue doing it. The obstacles they face are things they try to overcome, such as overzelaous fans taking pictures, shyness about modeling in swimsuits, etc.
It honestly seems like people are reading way more into it than it is, people who don't like idols for some reason, and saying that the game is anti-idol, gravure or otherwise.
