The Witch Knight's in the Irithyll are also associated with the Profaned Flame. Their armour mentions that they were an order of Holy Knights before their hearts were swallowed by the Profaned Flame. There weapons, the Immolation Tinder caries a piece of the Profaned Flame ("is enshrouded in an everlasting flame").
That's about all the information I can find on the Profaned Flame. It's probably not Chaos, since the Chaos Flame is described in every DS3 chaos related item as having dimmed or gone out.

The Road of Sacrifices literally exists because of Aldrich. It's the road the clergy of the Cathedral of the Deep used to transport people to Aldrich as food.
Aldrich wasn't some fucking heroic demi-god when he linked the flame. The religion built around him literally fed him sacrifices until he was strong enough. He became a Lord through the Quantity of souls he acquired, not the Quality. Then after linking the flame and coming back, Aldrich decided to kick off the Darkness party (an Age of Deep Waters) and fucked off to Anor Londo to eat the Gods in preparation.
The religion of Aldrich and his followers are the likely culprits behind a great many of the failures to link the fire in this era. Vordt and the Dancer are preventing unkindled from accessing Lothric Castle and the Undead Settlement. The Pontiff has outrider knights all over the castle itself, and a sentry at the Road of Sacrifices to protect the path to the Cathedral (and also Irithyll itself). It can be theorized that they are behind the curse on Lothric that rendered him sickly (a curse his brother took it upon himself to share) and the failure of Gundyr to link the flame.
It makes me sad that Aldrich and Sully have so little fanfare in their respective fights, since it feels like they are the true villains of this story.

Why did he take over Anor Londoand kill Gwendollin? Why did he order the Dancer to kill the prince's handmaiden and murder whoever that tried to enter Lothric? Why did he made use of the flame that scorched Yhorm's kingdom inhabitants?
Could it be that he knows what happened to Yhorm and his subjects when he linked the flame? And he is being a huge dick to the Unkindled because he doesn't want the lords of cinder to be gathered for the fire to be linked again?

I liked it, it was sort of heartwarming also seeing that statue of the woman (probably Gwyn's wife) holding a baby and thinking it was Solaire.
Other than that, I think it also adds to his coolness that he wasn't the firstborn after all, I mean, it wasn't explicit but the first game heavily implied it, and then, he wasn't but even though he wasn't a god or anything, he was still badass and held up pretty well by just being human.
I like to think he actually linked the fire in the first game witch is somewhat 100% canon I guess since they said so in an interview.

I just summoned my fried to help and even he has a shield and i have beatne every boss so far with no shield and pure skill rolling and i think its bullshit how most of these bosses have no dwon time in between some of these attacks for weaker weapons that dont stun lock like staright swords.

They probably had their skin completely burned off by the jailers in the dungeon by using those soldering irons, which are probably byproducts of harnessing the Profaned Flame.

I don't think "sea" explicitly refers to water here. The Deep seems to reference humanity. I mean look at Human Dregs and read that description, same for Deep and Great Deep Soul. The descriptions are all reminiscent of the original Pursuers, as in Humanity.
"The Deep" is probably seems oddly similar to the Abyss from what little we know. I personally think the church that cropped up around the Deep was nothing more than a way for people/undead to more freely worship and revere the Abyss.
