The invoker change is pretty insignificant since 0.05 is still almost instant, thought it might fuck people that use the shift-queue command to cast two spells at the same time.

Because you can't fucking see smoke through regular vision wards and it doesn't say if there are 5 or 1 in the radius. It gives no indication of number of heroes, if it pings someone there it could be the 0/3/4 CM or the entire fucking team. And given that wards despawn faster you're going to get one use of that shit for one ward that is going to die 3 times over before you get the next use.

Magic scaling items and a paltry scaling with int was pretty much one of the few good original ideas from HoN that improved the game. I always love seeing people cry over honestly minor changes.
