Male, because I'm a male and I like to self insert. Particularly in an MMO I like to be represented visually in a way that's similar to how I see myself. I understand that not everyone likes to do that, so I don't judge, but that's why 9.999 times out of 10 I pick the male avatar. I really only pick female if it's a gender locked class that I find really fun.
Now this only applies to RPGs or games where you make your own character. For fighting games and the like I don't mind playing female characters because there's no part of me being represented.
