What games actually took advantage of pressure sensitive buttons other than MGS?
>>
The dualshock has pressure sensitive buttons?
>>
>>335113769
Melee and Brawl did. The shoulder buttons were analog.
>>
>>335114247

You are a dumbass. OP is clearly talking about the DualShock 2 and 3, in which every face button except for Start and Select are pressure sensitive, which was taken away for the DS4. Nearly every controller has analog triggers, that's nothing special.
>>
>>335113769
Star Ocean

THAT FUCKING DRAGON FLUTE
>>
>>335114063
Dualshock 2 and 3 did. That's one reason why you'd see a lot of racing games use the face buttons to accelerate.
>>
>>335113769
Isn't every button pressure sensitive or else it wouldn't be a button?
>>
>>335114470
The GCN's shoulder buttons were not triggers, they were buttons.
>>
I remember the PS2 Ace Combat games had the target cam zoom depending on how hard you pressed the triangle button. also analog throttle.

I remember ZOE using it. That secondary fire (forget the name) would either be spread out or narrow depending on how hard you pressed.

The bumblefuck of a touchpad thing. Also the cool light on the back of the controller that you can customize with DS4 tool on PC, but Sony is too god damn stupid to let people do it on the PS4 itself.
>>
>>335113769
GTAV did, if you held it down a little you'd aim the gun "from the hip" (even though it's not actually from the hip) and if you pushed it in all the way it would fire. This was useful because you could run and aim instead of having to walk like when you hold the trigger.
>>
pressure sensitive buttons were a mistake
>>
>>335114718
No they where both, at the end of the trigger was a button press. It was used in Super Mario Sunshine. When you push down more and more, mario shoots more water, and when you press all the way he stands in place while you shoot.

Touchpad. Swiping works half the time and is awkward, clicking works ok, clicking depending on which quadrant you're touching at the time is neat. But honestly I would have preferred more buttons.
>>
>>335113769
The cars/hoverbikes in Jak and Daxter 1-3 would go faster or slower with how hard you pressed.

>>
>>335114063
Yes, ever wonder why the buttons on the 2 and 3 felt like mushy shit? Well now you know.
>>
>>335116131
Touchpad is great for when it's plugged into the pc and I'm on the couch with no mouse though
>>
Even the dpad was pressure sensitive.
>>
>>335116131
The touchpad has good accuracy, the problem is any game that tries to use it has shit gesture recognition coding.

Shadow Warrior made good use of it for inputting skill shortcuts with swipe motions rather than having to dance on the spot with the left analog.

I want more games to use the trackpad for placing hotzones (it's big enough to basically be four buttons in one for quick access to UI shit) or navigating certain elements faster (like a map).

>>

I just use it for pc gaming. Works as a push to talk button or mouse.

The Bouncer had a seperate move on hard presses iirc.

>>
>>335115659
Ugh, is GTA5 your first GTA?

You could do that in GTA4 with L2 + X

>>
>>335115604
i am 100% sure the only game that actually uses that, in an immersive way, is transistor

the sword's voice comes out of the controller, and the light flickers when he does it
>>
In Jak 2 the speed of the car is decided by how hard you pressed X. That mission where you are followed by heat seeking missiles is pure hell and destryes your thumb.
>>
>>335119279
So that explains why I felt the driving was 'off' on the HD port for PS3.
>>
>>335115232
>played through the MGS games last year
>didnt know the controllers had pressure sensitive buttons until I got to 3
>>
>>335119735

But the DS3 had pressure sensitive controls.
>>
Already mentioned but Gran Turismo had it. Great for doing shit like feathering the throttle and doing some light braking.
>>
>>335115451
>DS3 has motion controls

what does that mean? I have a DS3 but I wanna know what motion control refers to.

>A major feature of the Sixaxis controller, and from where its name is derived, is the ability to sense both rotational orientation and translational acceleration along all three-dimensional axes, providing six degrees of freedom.
>>
>>335121007
Dualshock 2 didn't have triggers, and GT3/4's default input was right stick for acceleration which meant no gas+break if you used that method without hitting face buttons.
>>
>>335121041
oh, I see. thanks.

gotta say though, motion control is a fucking retarded commonly used term for "sixaxis" then.
>>
>>335113769
I want to say Heavy Rain
>>
>>335121041
If it had a gyro in the sixaxis wouldn't have been rather unreliable outside of very specific motions in a set direction.

Wii Remote had the same fucking problem and it was far too late for that Motion+ adapter.
>>
>>335115210
That was Phalanx. Homing missiles also increased in amount depending how much it was pressed before release.
>>
>>335115451

Oh yeah it's such a shame, Lair was so good.
