What /v/ think of VR Games?

They have so much potential but it's not being tapped.

Unfortunately, the ludicrously expensive hardware and high required specs have shattered the potential userbase, so it's unlikely we'll see VR reach its full potential. Which is a damn shame, I want my fucking VR porn already.

The sense of scale they provide to an fps is pretty incredible. No visual experience in a game has ever come close to me playing the Vanishing of ethan carter on the occulus. At this point I'm okay with just using it with modded fps games.
>>
Got a vive and the rift. Even though most of the launch games are pretty much just demos they're so much fun just because of the VR and how it puts you into the game. Been playing a modded vive minecraft too and its pretty crazy how different the whole experience is.

what game is that?

It is being bogged down by the high cost of entry and lack of understanding of it as a new medium.

Been watching Markiplier playing some Vive games yeah yeah, e-celeb let's play trash, i ain't buying this shit to see how the market's going and a couple have been getting there.

Job Simulator specifically actually looks pretty fun as a sandbox experience. The sheer amount of interaction they put in and the vibrance of it is very enveloping.
That's the kind of detail you need. But of course, they had to come up with specific things to get past the common limitations, like how things just respawn if you throw them too far from your play space.
>>
So how exactly will they ever be able to get running down? Cause unless you're in like, a fucking gymnasium, moving around is not going to be very fun.

They fucked it up
If you're not a phenomenally well-established brand you need a SYSTEM SELLER to SELL your SYSTEM
Maybe ten years from now they can try again

Better dick and vagina colision physics than anything the high tech japanese porn game industry ever put out.

I mean that seriously, when the fuck is illusion or some other fuck going to manage to fix clipping, I mean jesus christ an fucking phone nearly a teraflop of computing power these days, how hard is it to make ponos > vagoo without taking shortcuts like having the two phase through each other?
>>
>>335119060
The short answer is they wont.

The long answer is it'll cost people another grand on top of their hmd, pc, and cleared-out living space. As well as the fact that it requires physical endurance, which most people aren't ready to experience.

They will be the shit and everyone will play them in around 20 years when we managed to wire the brain directly into a computer.
>>
it's going to be a fad, like motion controls

This
We've had VR for many generations
It's just an off-shoot of the videogame medium and most books are more immersive than anything you could make someone feel by strapping ten pounds of machinery on them with a close screen and headphones

Yea I can see it now... put on this headset at best buy to demo inmate simulator. The second you put it on, someone will assrape in real life while you believe it's all VR.

Look pretty cool to me. I don't think they're going to go away. They obviously won't replace anything, either.
