I'm looking for an adventure game for my PS4 with a massive and good-looking open world map, and so fat I've narrowed down my choices to Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Elder Scrolls online. Has anyone played these, and if so what would you recommend?
Ive only played ESO out of those 3, and I'd only recomend it if you intend on playing with some of your friends.

I've played all of the above, so I can be somewhat honest:
Witcher 3 has the best setting, the best art, the best voice acting, the best "feel". The game isn't as big or as varied as it could be, but it does everything else pretty much perfectly. Wonderful story and characters. A+.
DA:I is great. Nothing like the other two DA's. Several smaller-but-still-big open worlds to roam around in, one of the largest amounts of land I've covered in a WRPG. Tons of items to find and loot and arms to create. Good story. Bland characters. Too many fetch quests. A-.
ESO: Boring Elder Scrolls MMO. Don't bother. D.

DAI looks gorgeous and feels very cool for the first 10 hours. Then you realise how empty the world is and that everything feel like a filler.

Dragon age has the better story. Witcher 3 has some interesting gameplay, but dodge and slash gets old after a while. It also looks better and has the more attractive looking people. Everyone in dragon age inquisition is butt ugly. The strategy options and multiple characters to control is fun in that game. Witcher 3 is just some autistic old lady killer (oxymoron I know) with the same shit the whole game save for a few variations of spells. There is better variety in dragon age especially the crafting. Crafting in witcher 3 is pretty unnecessary until you reach lv 34. And by then you should be at the final quest. Witcher does questing well despite having a shitty major arc. The major arc in dragon age is awesome but the questing is all fucking fetch quests. Witcher3 feels like LA Noire sometimes. And that's not a bad thing. These are what I took away from these games.

Why aren't you playing Dark Souls 3? I know it doesn't exactly meet your criteria, but are you really going to start playing the Witcher 3 now? The story is good if you like European mythology, but the characters are meh and the plot is so fucking bland. You can get completely lost in Dark Souls in a way that I think is much more preferable to "oh my God look how big this forest is, see you can run from that ridge to the ocean, it's huge!"
The Witcher has always struck me as an rpg-simulator, something about it has always rubbed me the wrong way. It just feels stiff.

Jesus christ, the series is fun, but it's not the best game in the fucking world. The gameplay is extremely simplistic, even compared to Witcher, and coming from the devs that made Armored Core, I know they can shake things up more.
The saving grace is the atmosphere and lore, and OP specifically said he wanted open world adventure, which Souls isn't.
Honestly, he can't go wrong with W3 or DA:I, but the former has far less downsides than the latter.

The Witcher series' writing in both the books and vidya have always been at its weakest when it's trying to be grand and "epic", which I why I always appreciate the smaller, more contained stories like HoS, which almost feels like an expanded short from the novels.
Also they showed that they've already learned a lot after the initial release, and I'm pumped to check out a whole new region - quite curious how big it will be though.
While DAI isn't fully open world (Some of the areas seem very "on rails") it still seems pretty open world, DAI has much better combat and RPG elements while TW3 has a broader open world and slightly better graphics.
Both are VERY good games and I honestly think they come down to personal preference, in my personal opinion I think DAI was more enjoyable and fun while TW3 was a better game technically.

Elder Scrolls online became pretty decent after they fixed it up, both as an mmo, and as a single player experience. The base game is b2p and gives a pretty decent amount of gameplay for that money, just make sure don't buy it on steam. As for the DLCs they say they are good, but I haven't tried them myself though.
