Why not? Killing opponents takes a threat out of the game for several seconds, leaving your team to cover more ground and decreasing overall danger levels for the time.
Plus, most maps have a ton of choke points, so you can usually guess how long it'll take 'til someone can get back to the middle, or wherever the front line happens to be.

I main the Inkbrush for this reason OP. Often, my team storms mid or some other important area and leaves spawn up for grabs. I don't mind it because the original inkbrush excels at covering turf more than anything, plus I can get around 2 inkstrikes before even going to clusterfuck at wherever.
When I first started playing, I thought that a lot of my teammates were pretty dumb for not covering the spawn area, but now I realize that it's probably for the best if there's just one person covering spawn while the rest move in.
