So I have this game and all the expansions on Steam but I've never played it and I need a break from Dark Souls.
Is it worth getting into?
Is there anything I should know as a complete beginner? Any fun character builds you can recommend? Any mods I need to make it more enjoyable?
Cheers bros.

Just dive in and do whatever. Builds in this game are very flexible, your character can do anything if you train it.

Yea it's boring and kinda dumb. Get oblivion. That game is goat
Skyrim GOTY edition with all the official DLC is pretty good. I got to play it later after I played Skyrim when it first came out, which is a shame. I like all the new stuff it ads to the game. Conjurers even get new pets, and it introduces a lot of events to vanilla skyrim, like the sudden vampire attacks. Consider yourself blessed you'll get to experience this version first.

That's a strange way to spell Morrowind.
i think it's really good. like the other poster said, you sort of figure out how you want your character to be as you're playing the game. it's flexible and you can try different things out.

oblivionbabies are so annoying. oblivion and skyrim are extremely similar. they are more similar than any other two TES games. if oblivion is "goat", then skyrim can't be "boring and dumb". they're like the same fucking thing.
Holds The City Overhaul is a great mod that beefs up a lot of the cities.

Depends on how you like playing the game. I played it as conjurer/archer (for that hunter with pets feel), and it was a lot of fun to literally "siege" enemy outposts and small castles with a mini-army of pets and companions. It feels like being part of a war party, and things get crazy all over the screen if you rush at all of them head-on because they will all start attacking you and your mini-army all at the same time.

Not really, the level of customization in Oblivion is far greater. Also, "shouts" in Skyrim is honestly Mysticism from oblivion. In Oblivion you can make your own "shouts", in Skyrim, you're locked out of that, because of the whole shouts gimmick.

this game is very easy.
you don't need to know anything really.

Don't listen to anyone telling you to play an earlier game. Playing Skyrim first and moving backwards is a better experience, since the games will keep getting better up to Morrowind and maybe even Daggerfall depending on your tastes.
Plus it's simply the most accessible game. It's easy to get into and you don't need to plan anything out. There's tons of mods that make it more enjoyable but that's up to personal preference, everyone will tell you some different overhaul or gameplay change is a must-have.
