while he wants to free the Lombaxes, the real reason he's using time travel is to fix his own mistakes, since it was he who trusted Tacchyon and caused the Lombax exile in the first place
even if he freed them ordinarily, it wouldn't change the fact they were trapped in a pocket dimension for years because of him
