Just got this in the mail. Haven't played in like 8 years.
Eternal Darkness thread.
Favorite effect? Character? Setting?

Best effect was the end of demo message popping up
Best character was Anthony
Best setting was the Maximilian version of the mansion
>>335091598
Wow, your taste is flawless. I 100% agree, and I'm not being ironic
Second best effect is having your character enter a room littered with sanity potions, picking them all up, and then leaving the room only to find out you're still crazy
Lindsey is manliest
>>335091760
Dude YOU FUCKING FIGHT HIS ROTTING CORPSE only a crazy person could think he wasn't the best character.
I do favor the sanity effect where you randomly explode, it always catches me off guard but the end of demo thing legitimately had me pissed since I thought it was real for a time after seeing it.
Also a notable mention to the black "video" screen. It's useless now but back in the day my CRT did that shit all the time.

The best sanity effect isthe blue screen of death
Also Pious did nothing wrong
Pargon Pargon Pargon Pargon Pargon
I've had this game in my backlog for
>9 YEARS
Did Alex lose her mind in the end?

>Best setting was the Maximilian version of the mansion
Best soundtrack, too.
"I am the scourge of God appointed to chastise you, since no one knows the remedy for your iniquity except me. You are wicked, but I am more wicked than you, so be silent!"
-Tamerlane Khan
As much as I enjoy the game I really hate the last few chapters of going through the underground again and again. so damn long and not really satisfying.
Picking up ammo every step
Paul Luther, even though I just played that area twice. but learning that boss fight.
Probably the start. It started the spooks off right. The mansion was not what it seemed from the get go.
There are some weird things about this game that I don't understand.
Like the Ulyaoth-aligned Recover spell having zero net effect. Giving it a positive net effect (i.e., allowing it to recover more magick than it costs) wouldn't have broken the game, because the spell still has the cost of forcing you to stand still, thereby becoming vulnerable. As it is, however, there's literally no reason to use it.
Why didn't you give me money Anons?
Don't you want a sequel?

>Favorite effect?
It's cool that you can try to reattach your severed head, but I think my favorite effects are the non-randomized ones like the sculpture watching you, the landscape paintings turning into torture scenes, and the knocking on the mansion walls
>Character?
Anthony
>Setting?
The WWI cathedral with the bombs dropping is really good, but I think the middle eastern temple starts good and keeps getting better every time you visit it
>>335093751
It felt rushed
>>335090281
I'm partial to the one that pretends to erase your memory card or whatever.
It's been way too long since I played desu

Kek
>the bath tub scene
>the butler
those almost made me cry as a kid playing this
I once heard that Inspector Legrasse was actually a bonethief and you were going to fight him originally.
So if that was actually the case then Alex would have been framed for murdering another human being.
Just like Maximillian Roivas

I nearly cried when I thought my save was corrupted
>>335096789
I'd fuck her eternal darkness if you get what I mean.
>>335097760
Is this game even worth emulating? Do any of it's tricks translate, or should I dig up a GameCube and a copy to play it?
>>335098934
Yeah go ahead and emulate it. The sanity stuff is just a gimmick anyway and most of them work just fine.

>Lindsey is the best because he was the only one to get out unfucked. He beat the elder gods
>Roivas estate, both versions included.
