I'm a fan and I didn't ask for a shitty, slow paced, extremely easy, 3 hour game.

Starfox Zero is based off of Starfox 64 which is based off of Starfox. This is a 2 decade old game with a new coat of paint. There's no good story or lore, there's no good music, the game is even EASIER than 64, and there's no content. People will argue it's replayable but nobody wants to replay a boring game.

Luigi's Mansion 1 had the same retarded control scheme. The C Stick controls the path of the vacuum while the analog stick controls Luigi's movement. Really good dodging mechanics.

>>335084639
The general opinion is that is just fine, about as good as 64 3D, better than all of the shitty Star fox games on GC and DS.
The biggest faults it has is a unintuitive control scheme and not many things that are new, but is a reboot so most fans don't care.
>>
>>335086892

While this may be, using Gyro controls in 3d space is even more retarded, ESPECIALLY if you're splitting the viewing field.

It's average.

Poor level design, unchallenging bosses, lack of extra modes, so on.

It's not a BAD game, it's just not worth $40. It's worth $20 though, and even though Guard is $20 it's worth $40 easily, so overall the bundle's a decent bargain.

Nobody actually asked for gimmicky controls and 3-4 hours of gameplay.

There are literally levels that require use of the stereoscopic controls along with BOTH analog sticks simultaneously. The game is fucking trash and nintendo fans have been demanding less gimmicks since 2006. Nintenyearolds keep pointing to Iwata's death as the start of the decline, but when Yamauchi left in 2002 that was the end of nintendo in my eyes.

Deconfirming.

Gyro controls are mandatory. The right analogue stick is never used, and aiming is never assigned to the left stick.
>>
>>335089112

That's not expert mode either.

64 Expert Mode made you lose your wings on a single collision, altered powerups and removed others, and added enemies and changed enemy positions.

All Falco Arwing does is double damage received and dealt.

Didn't say the game was good, I was suggesting it might not be "easy" if you actually use hard mode. Considering that nintendo babys everyone now, I am guessing the regular/base difficulty will be easy enough to play with your feet, and the actual/normal difficulty will probably be the black arwing.

Literally no one asked for this.

The biggest requests were always for more 64 and how 64 was great. And that's exactly what you got.
>>
>>335090460
People wanted another 64 since they fucked us with shitty games for the entire GC era.
>>
>>335090763
>when you are going to force players to look at a 5" inch?
You retard, you don't have to look at the gamepad screen.
>>
>>335090946
>But there are also extended, often arbitrary seeming sequences where camera control on your television is taken away, locking the view to a fixed position, at which point Star Fox Zero forces you to use the screen on the GamePad to play the game from a constricted "cockpit view."
>>
>>335090815
>always for more 64 and how 64 was great. And that's exactly what you got.

How is it exactly what we got?

We got slowed down levels, less enemies PER level, easier bosses, shitty extra vehicles, and less game modes.

How is this MORE 64?
>>
>>335091273
Sounds exactly like what 64 was to Star Fox.
>>
>>335090946

Have you TRIED playing with the Landmaster without looking at the gamepad?

It's LITERALLY unplayable. The fucking game itself has a tip screen about how you should really look at the gamepad if you're having trouble controlling the Landmaster.

On top of that, over half the bosses and a few in level sequences take over the tv screen camera and even force a fucking SIDE view, and you're expected to keep playing the gamepad.

64 gave us faster levels, more enemies per levels, easier bosses, a good extra vehicle and a shitty extra vehicle, a new difficulty level, and multiplayer.

It certainly didn't improve on the formula as much as it should have, but it gave us MORE Starfox. Literally the only thing Zero did was take it away.

Releasing the game at all.
>>
>>335083598
So fans asked for gyro aiming?
>>
>>335092637

I don't understand how anything you said is relevant.

Project Guard is something new and was a big risk. It's actually pretty good and is probably going to be a sleeper hit - most reviewers are praising it and happy with it.

Star Fox Zero has taken literally no risks and has copied 64 which already copied SNES. And, in an attempt to make it even more accessible, they dumbed it down further and took away all challenge to the point where you have to be braindead to die in a level and there's no reason to ever lose to a boss. Most reviewers feel it's a middling game that's not really worth the time to play it.

Their risk taking paid off with Project Guard, and SFZ was playing it too close to home and gave us a shitty game.
>>
>>335092637

This time we have both going on at the same time. Outside of the new control scheme this is unmistakably riffing off Star Fox 64. I'd rather they drew inspiration from more than one particular entry, like how Twilight Princess had an OoT, ALTTP, and Wind Waker influence. Zero could've pulled some of the good stuff from Assault, like the music and art-style.

The only bosses in 64 that are actual challenges are hardmode Andross, and the rematch against Starwolf. Like, honestly? Think about it. Is the monster of Titania challenging? No. The lava monster on the sun? No. The circle weapon at the end of sector 6? No.
Secret weapon? Macbeth? Asteroids? All piss easy, 'shoot the glowing bits' bosses while they shoot a few lasers at you once every half hour. I haven't played Zero so I can't vouch for its difficulty, but it just seems like everyone is comparing the game to how difficult 64 felt when we were all 10, rather than how it actually plays now as an adult.
>>
>>335098225

Not really, he's annoying to fight, but by no means hard. Just hard turn until you get to his back. When he teleports, u-turn.
I honestly found the clam monster harder.
>>
>>335098225

No, Zero just has NO challenging bosses at all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZDILTLoqdg

What makes it even worse is that the levels are significantly easier than 64's, mostly due to the fact that the ship moves slower and it's easier to both shoot everything and avoid everything.
