Just finished this, man the ending is fucking crazy.
Truth be told for a long time I didn't think this was as good as the first one because it simply wasn't as captivating but the final stretch more than redeemed it.

Kirigiri was a much more enjoyable sidekick for me, both in terms of personality and in terms of purpose within the story. Also I love Kana Hanazawa but it never felt like she actually got to act in her role, always the same tone and shit.
My biggest complaint during the early chapters was that it never felt like you actually progressed towards anything. 5 chapters in you still knew virtually nothing about the island, about why you're there, about who you're fighting, about who the traitor is.... compared with the first one it's a much less linear progression. DR2 is like a lot of nothing in terms of the big picture and the it explodes exponentially towards the end.
I remember when the investigation theme in the first one changed to a more rock version, I was really pumped, because the story has progressed to the point where you really felt like this is it, shit's getting real. When the music changed to the rock version in DR2 I was just like "huh, how about that".
