Sonic Heroes level design is bullshit
Levels are 15 minutes long on average and there's a checkpoint every 5 minutes
Because of the shitty controls and glitches during on-rail sections, you often die right before a checkpoint and waste a great amount of time for nothing
Special Stages are a nightmare sometimes too because of the controls

I recently started up windwaker for the first time (emulated) and i got to ask, how was i suppose to figure out to shoot the tornado frog so i can get the quick travel so i could get the ice and fire arrows? Only by talking to a specific map fish?
Also, how was i suppose to know how to find the iron boots and the shit to lift heavy stuff?
Is it all exploring or did i miss a main clue?

If I'm not mistaking, the green frog at dragon roost island mentions that his brother is around.
When he appears (the red frog is targetable).
After he learns you the wind teleport song, and you travel to the mother and child island, the fairy says that you are not ready to visit the place and should come back some other time.
But yeah, it is a bit cryptic and unfair.

I think the second time you get swept into a tornado the frog appears right?
I recall when I was 11 that you spent too much time getting sucked by that cyclone not to try all your weapons out. First arrow landed so it made sense. Fire and Ice islands were a logical conclusion when you got the arrows, not necessarily what they hid in them.

The two NPCs at the entrance of the village hint at the hookshot, and IIRC one mentions the shield when you're there as a child. In any case, helping the guard at the gate to Death Mountain let's you buy the shield at a large discount back at Hyrule Market (he tells you such after you help him) which is another way to get it.

I got it in less than 20 minutes.
It's not THAT bad, but it's still notable.
