I liked that he was somewhat normal and wasn't some huge, corrupted mess. Also the swordfighting in the intro was very cool.

I meant great in terms of how it plays out. I think the combat is at its best when you're facing a large humanoid with a sword.

Lothric/Lorian, Burnt Ivory King, artorias, nameless king, champion gundyr, maria, dancer, pontiff sulayvahn and orphan are all much better fights.

I don't know if anyone has experienced this with Pontiff Sulayvahn, but as I was fighting him today it glitch and he basically just stood there and I wailed on him till he died. Off to the left side of the room, facing from where you enter the fight, there's like a pillar thing against the wall that I usually put between us so I could get a chug in. When he summoned the clone, I did the thing and started drinking the estus. The shadow then did the move where he jumps up and dives at you, and he ended up going through the pillar, and he was actually stuck in the floor. He could still attack me though so I ran away from it, but I noticed Pontiff Sulayvahn wasn't attacking me anymore, probably because in this phase he only attacks after the clone doess, and it was stuck in floor. So I just beat him to death, though he was already pretty low so I don't know how long it would have worked for.
