All weapons except the Longsword in this game suck ass. Why even include them?
Huge swords are just slow while doing slightly more damage per hit. In that time you can make 2 hits with longsword, so why even use them?
DPS-wise longsword is the best.

Challenge yourself and dont play easy mode maybe? Try a caestus/demon fist only run, that should be fun.

Problem is most enemy recover faster than you when you are using big weapons. You are taking more risks without any benefit.
You can still fuck shit up with great weapons, much like DS2 you need the skill to back them up
Shit like tilt swings to track a fleeing or circling player, baiting them into a charged r2, etc.
Great weapons hit VERY hard and with bigger ones you are guaranteed a second hit if the first one connects, if you catch them at half health its ogre for them, they will not escape the second hit
Some great/ultra weaps are also better than others, BKGA has long reach and hits like two trucks tied together

It's like you want to stay weak. Luck will both add high damage to the weapon and increase the bleed chances. With a resin you'll hit bleeds every other swing.
What pisses me off, is that the boss weapons are practically useless or on the same level as regular stuff.
Sure they look fancy, but i rather spend those souls for something else that makes more sense than cosmetic looks.

Sometimes you can stunlock because they initiate an attack animation without using their get out of stunlock free card first, silver knights are a good example of an enemy that can crumple fast before heavy weaps.

I've been using anri's straight sword with 40 luck and it has carried me a good bit, tried to get 40 faith as well for some offensive miracles but damn if miracles isn't pure shit in this game.
People say the same thing with sorceries, only thing remotely fun and decent is pyromancy it seems.
It's funny how in thread like this there are always some people who clearly talk with PvE focus and other who care only about PvP and most of the time people don't stop to think which group the person they are replying to belongs.

The only weapon I'm really disappointed in is the Great Wooden Hammer. The weapon looks so much fun to bop nerds with but with a C scaling at +10 and 206 base that's awful.

What hitstun. I just did a fast experiment to see what happens if you kill the npcs in Firelink shrine.
Did it as a starting bandit and noticed that sometimes Hawkwood was allowed to block or roll away even after one R1 hit while I assumed that with most weapons that aren't super slow you are granted at least two hit combo for free.
Also had a hard time getting used to the range, but that's something one gets used to with little time.
Is it true that once you reinforce till +10 you will forever stuck into that pool even if you remove/sell that weapon?

Yes. Selling it, trashing it, stashing it, does not change your upgrade bracket, once you upgrade, you are stuck there, even if you go back to unupgraded weaps.
Also, picking up any NG+ version of a ring permanently locks you out of interaction with NG players, full stop.
