If you have a gaming quality PC that can run games pretty well, get a monitor. Trust me when I say a TV is wasted on a PC gaming set up.
The only major downside is the lack of size and ergonomics in terms of just lying on the couch and playing. Which is what you probably can't do unless you have a very creative furniture lay out.
If however you play PS4 or something, just use a fucking TV.
Really wish they'd release a bigger screen that can output to 144 because this is not relaxing at all having to be hunched over a desk.

I have a 24" 144hz monitor and a 50" 4k HDTV. My rig is in my living room, so I play all games with gamepad support on my TV, and the rest on the monitor.
I use my PS4 with a BENQ monitor that has 1ms reaction time. That's right: 1 fucking second. Every single FPS I rekt all others so brutally despite having average skill it's unfuckingbelievable. I am not better than you but you will still get fucked because I see you way earlier cunt

Monitors always have a much lower latency and are cheaper, even in "game mode" most good modern TVs have 40 ms of latency or more, while good monitors have close to 0.
Aside of that, it depends on your setup, if you're going to install your screen close to you the ideal is one big enough to cover the center of your field of view, a standard 22inch monitor should be installed at about 1 meter distance, and so on, there are calculation for this on the Internet,.

but now i think it's a waste not to sue 144hz at any fps it's just way better i even played ds3 in window just to keep 144hz

I've used nothing less than 40 inch 1080 TVs for a decade now and you could not pay me to go back to a monitor. Shit looks great, plays great and is gigantic right in front of me. Monitors are basically meme accessories these days.
