Is there a better bossfight in the souls game than Orphan of Kos?
>that foreshadowing
>looking down at the beach and seeing a strange mass
>the arena itself
>the atmosphere
>the bleakness
>the reveal
>the crying
>the challenge
Gave me goosebumps. Haven't beaten him yet, though.

I dunno, but Champion Gundyr, Abyss Watchers, Soul of Cinder, Pontiff, Twin Princes, and Nameless King are all top tier bosses in the series. DaS3 has some fucking great ones.

>Ludwig
>Gehrman
>Pikachu and Snarl
>Artorias
>Champ
>Namless Fuck
These are all better fights.

Pontif Sulyyvahn, Nameless King, Lothric Princes are all better bossfights than Kos.
I can't imagine what will they do for Dark Souls 3 dlcs. How can they make better boss fights than some of the best vanilla ones?
>>335023843
They are not better, they are all very good.
He's probably the peak. Gameplay and aesthetics came together real well with him.

I love how you can see the corpse he crawls out of earlier in the level when you look down onto the beach.
I can't wait to beat him and discover what the fuck has been going on.
>>335022010
Only good souls fights were in demons souls. Everything since is just a rehash.

>and discover what the fuck has been going on.
kek, good luck with that
>>335027119
go back to that game and you'll see it has some of the worst boss fights of the series. I only appreciate most of them because of the music and aesthetics.
AAAH KOS, SOME SAY KOSM
>>335027392
As you once did for the vacuous Rom, grant us eyes...Grant us eyes!
>>335027137
My guess thus far is that the body on the beach is an old one that was going to give birth to the Orphan but died.
Since the orphan looks vaguely human I'm guessing there was some kind of cosmic interbreeding between a human and a great one that went wrong.

Plant eyes on our brains, to cleanse our beastly idiocy.

AAAAWROOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>335027541
Or that's how Pthumerians are born, it's pretty open for interpretation really.
As far as it's concerned, the fact that both the original game and DLC deal with losing ones child, the fates of Yharnam and Kos are chillingly similar.

The grand lake of mud, hidden now, from sight. The cosmos, of course!
Gwyn was much more atmospheric. Soul of Cinder was good too.
Kos is pretty shit atmospherically but then again I hate Lovecraft.
In terms of difficulty he's not much harder than those two or any of the harder bosses in the other games.

I must be terrible at Souls then because Orphan pushed my shit in farther than any other boss in the series did. His second phase is fucking brutal. I came real close to beating him by myself several times but could never pull it off.
Ended up having to summon help in. Even then, it took me 3 more attempts.
Great boss fight though.
>>335028178
I get wrecked by his second phase too. How did you do it?
>>335027836What was with the cage on his head?
>>335028245
Luck, mostly. What usually killed me was when he jumped in the air and rained those exploding shitballs down on the player.
Like I said, I only beat him with help. Me and the other guy basically ran a wolfpack on him. Whoever he was focused on backed off to a safe distance, the other person came in from behind and attacked. We bounced him between us like that until he died.
Run from the exploding shit balls. Run from the lightning wave. Make use of the water; the arena actually extends pretty far out there. Don't be a hero.
>>335028364If I remember correctly, it was an antenna that facilitated communication between the wearer and the old ones.Lot of crazy shit going on in this game. I never read Lovecraft so it was all new to me.
Orphan is probably the best out of them all, but DS3 has some that come close. They just need to increase the fucking hp on some of the bosses, why should the princes have so little hp for where they are, at least double it.

Ludwig.

I actually believe Orphan is the hardest boss I have ever fought in a souls game, and I've played all of them. Nameless King is a close second though
