He was too pure for this world.
>>335009910
Who is that?
>>335009910
Powered up art is fucking atrocious, this is what mega man looks like.
>>335009975
In a time, cancelled and forgotten long ago
Nigga he got like over a hundred games, what more do you want? Fans of other franchises would kill for their favorite series to have that long of a run.
>>335010220
I want a cute pictures of Megaman thread.
>>335010060
>Inafune art
>Good
I did like all the sketches for each power up though.
>>335010060
Yeah, no. It's mega MAN, not mega boy. Look at his stone cold killer expression in the games.
Best Mega Man artist by far coming through
>>335010365
He was a good artist, just because he's a piece of shit conman you don't have to lie.
Now bengus though, he was a god. This is probably my favorite interpretation of mega man.
As much as people like to say "I wish we had more megaman", I think these people forget that a ton of the MM games made at the end of the franchise's life were really bad.
>>335010765
Yeah, like Mega Man 9, Starforce 3, Mega Man... X8...
w8 r u tryin to ruse me again
>>335010765
That's really only for the case of the X series, the classic series was actually good beyond its first game.
>>335011346
The classic series was good through every one of its games, actually.
>>335009910
Even metal can rust, let the poor thing die.
Or transform into something else.
>imagine this with modern graphics and UT style of shooter
>>335011618
>>Megaman is old and dead let it rust
>>Brings up Unreal Tournament
The irony is fucking palpable.
>>335011589
Explain this then.
>>335010220
I think that if the series had honorably bowed out peacefully and without incident, people wouldn't be crying for more games as hard, but because Mega Man's "death" was so disastrous, with multiple games being cancelled and Inafune storming out of the building, I think it left everyone really disatisfied with its handling and want something better for it.
If it had just ended on 10 and there was simply no word of any game after that, MML3 was never announced, Inafune left quietly, I think there wouldn't be as much outcry for more Mega Man.
>>335011835
>walk left to win in 2d
>kill shit to win in 3d
Grampa, get with the times, 2d is ded, and plaformers are for kids who made his first game or indie hipsters who want to tell a story.
>>335011861
Oh wow, I've never heard anyoen slam 5. It's arguably the best out of 4, 5 and 6.
>>335011861
What is there to explain?
Sorry, can't hear you over superior graphics & Darkman's theme
>>335012073
>>335012187
5 is the worst classic game. Terrible stage design with flat boring levels, awful weapons, not challenging at all with the broken mega buster and insanely high extra life drop rate, and a unmemorable ost.
Its mediocre as fuck.
>>335011861
For me personally, 5 is second only to 3 out of the classic series.
>>335010765
Bro. There are no bad mega man games. Only less good ones.
FIND ME A BAD MEGA GAME I DARE YOU
>>335010365
Inafune's a tool and undoubtedly well past his prime, but the guy was quite talented.
>>335012429
F-Flat!? Are you high? Ignoring you now.
>>335012646
My counter
>>335012837
What is this, a robot master weapon for antman?
>>335012913
No, proof mega man 5 had flat stages.
>>335012995
One more, probably the worst offender.
>>335010365
Say what you will about con man and current Inafune shenanigans related to MN9 but Inafune's drawings has its charms. It's one of the reasons I like Mega Man.
>>335013202
This stage is literally a fucking train, though
4chan won't let me post Crystal Man's stage, as it's too large.
>>335013542
I've seen crystal man's stage and will say it isn't flat.
Still, have star man's stage.
>>335013690
Better pic, sorry.
>>335009975
>>335013690
That's an underwater stage. They all look like shit if you just post VGMaps. E.g. Dive man and Bubble man.
>>335011997
>left
>>335009910
Why did they stop milking megaman anyway?
>>335013949
Megaman 10 was getting meh reception and they didn't want to muddy the brand with rapid fire classic games
megaman 10 should have been a reboot or a Megaman X crossover (Megaman 10/X? shit writes itself)
>>335013810
Dude I can't believe you're posting examples of flat stages and not posting the flattest of all.
>>335014039
What about megaman.exe?
>>335013845
Got any defense for this one?
>>335012546
X5, X6, X7, to a lesser extent X3, Battle Network 4. Wow that was hard, guess you're not that much of a Mega Man fan to know common knowledge like this.
>>335013949
It's hard to say without knowing the exact goings on at Capcom at the time, but I'm going to guess Inafune up and leaving so suddenly was the likely culprit. He was basically the guy in charge of the whole series and managed everything related to it, and I don't think it's a coincidence that all of the games got canned the moment he left. That event probably shook up everything and made them put it all on hold until they could get things sorted out.
Either that or Inafune was the only higher-up in the company with any interest in keeping the series alive in the first place.
>>335014151
You got any arguments against it? If anything you posted one of the best reasons to have vertical stages in the first place, so you can concentrate on enemy placement since Mega man can't shoot up.
>>335014151
These examples really don't seem much flatter than your typical Mega Man level.
>>335014252
>Either that or Inafune was the only higher-up in the company with any interest in keeping the series alive in the first place.
He actually did have hand in almost [every] Mega Man game (mostly to keep with the feel of Mega Man games' vibes or not). The games he didn't have a hand in, he personally doesn't favor (Quint comes to mind).
This is why I believe there won't be another legit Mega Man game since it won't have his supervision.
>>335014459
Forget the flat chested argument
What's with that C curve that's in every single fucking level
>>335014323
Pits only at the beginning and easily avoidable spike pits, rest requires simple combat with your over powered mega buster.
Going to bed, this was fun to actually debate something involving videogames. I don't hate 5 or anything I just feel its probably the weakest of the non gb classic games.
>>335014728
>Shitting on the GB games
Come the fuck back here so I can tell you why you're wrong some more
>>335014692
it's a cheap way to turn the level around because moving left doesn't feel natural for whatever fucking reason
why they used it so many times though is a mystery
>>335014792
Alright I'm back, other then IV and V they're pretty shitty. I remember the levels in IV feeling way to long, V is fantastic though.
>>335014950
I's stages were unique which set it apart from the original, and III's second set of stages were the most difficult in the franchise. Only II was bad and even that had cool music.
>>335011861
>>335012073
>>335012440
where did you people come from? 5 is genuinely the worst classic series game. you have the overpowered charge shot that kills all the enemies in one hit, the ludicrous stage gimmicks (crystals falling from the sky, riding a jet ski, etc), virtually no challenge, and somewhat forgettable robot masters. the whole game is just stale as hell. mega man 4 feels like an earnest attempt to improve on 3's flaws, and 6 feels like an earnest attempt to actually go in a new direction. 5 has music and art going for it, and that's that
>>335015106
I agree completely, personal favorite is 4. Even then its mediocre at worst.
>>335015050
I remember I feeling very barebones, like a more cool thing when it came out simply for the idea of having megaman on the go.
>>335015106
Best weapons, great music and top tier robot masters. Also had a story which was pretty balling. Beats the hell out of 4's shitty stages and 6's overall mediocrity.
>>335015106
going along with this train (heh) of thought, how do you feel about Mega Mans 7, 8, &B, 9, and 10?
>>335015273
>4's shitty stages
Weirdest 3 I've ever seen.
>>335015258
megaman 4 is very underrated in terms of its enemy designs, in my opinion. the enemies have interesting behaviours. compare those weird flying bug things to the telly robots from 2 - they're a variation on the same concept but they're much more fun to fight. or compare the trap door platforms in dark man's stage to the disappearing bridges in ring man's stage - again, same concept, but mega man 4 executes it a lot better and has a lot more fun with it
>>335015273
great music is all it has. mm5 has one genuinely amazing stage (gravity man) but that doesn't redeem the whole game. in fact i would argue it's immediately cancelled out by crystal man, who probably have the worst stage in all of classic mega man
>>335015320
mega man 7 was a mistake, because the sprites were way too big, the level design suffered. apparently capcom gave the team 3 months to make an entire mega man game so i can't really blame them
8 i didn't play much, i enjoyed what i played but it feels very, very different to other classic megaman games, it actually feels a lot like other PSX-era 2d platformers.
9 and 10 are great. whilst 9 is probably the better game, 10 is criminaly underrated
>>335009910
He was already dead in the X saga. Long time dead.
>>335015510
>mega man 7 was a mistake, because the sprites were way too big, the level design suffered
Horseshit, all they did was adopt the gameboy level design which made the boss fights way way WAY more interesting when they're more than just eight dots bundled together.
>>335015656
>Freezeman doesn't move until you do
Always loved that about him.
>>335015901
skull man does it too
>>335015656
i never played mega man for the bosses but to each their own
>>335015998
>i never played mega man for the bosses but to each their own
But that's
How could you
>>335010060
But Powered Up is how the designer intended him to look. He was just limited by the NES's technical limitationsthank god
>>335016161
i mean most of them are trivially easy even with the mega buster and the fights are over in 10-30 seconds
