Now, this is a shit game. Not sure how much of my newfound hate for it is due to it always freezing, or that it fucked up my Xbox Hueg hard drive (I was running an iso of it). I had it on Gamecube as a kid, and I don't remember it freezing and forcing a hard reset every time you ran it.
Now I have to buy another hard drive and redownload all my isos, cause I didn't keep backups. Was the Xbox version just buggy as shit, or did I get a bad dump or something?

I recently played chameleon twist 2 again and its not bad. The tongue controls are weird but once you get the hang of it it's a fun mechanic. The graphics are awful and the levels are generic but it's challenging. Minigames are fun too.

Playing HeartGold made me realize how fucked the actual region and progression were. Everyone creams their jeans over following pokemon but the actual problems GSC had were mainly the garbage pokemon distribution and the terrible level scaling and despite all the fun stuff HGSS added it didn't fix those so it's still a chore to play.
Sure there was the pokewalker but you had to grind that to get decent pokemon too. I walked home from school so it wasn't really that much of a problem at the time

The level design is good. The movement and controls are more fluid. The bosses overall are certainly more well-designed. It's a mechanically superior game. 64 was good for its time but improvements have been made.
