I keep hoping for a remaster of NG and NGII for PC and modern consoles. It'll never happen but they were so damn good.

I do understand where you're coming from. It's especially jarring given how the first game tries to present constant forward movement as the optimal option, and then NG2 forces you to slow down all the time.
It makes the stages pretty distinct, though.
