Has there ever been a video game, where you wish the story never ends?
the first time playing earthbound
FF7, FF8, Suikoden 2
Persona 4. Like when you start to pack your bags to leave I literally almost cried because I didn't want the journey to end.
STALKER series, Hotline Miami 2, and Warcraft 3.
Didnt want STALKER to stop showing me more east european shitholes and wanted more Warcraft 3 in general, shame Warcraft is the Simpsons of videogames now.
Hotline Miami 2 had a great soundtrack+setting+visuals combo so I wanted more to play, and after finishing it, well, yea not much to say about not wanting it to end there.

No, I felt is was time to go, you knew you were leaving in a year anyway.
Xenoblade Chronicles
>>334995940
I think about this all of the time. I have this whole other fancanon going on in my head where Mother 3 doesn't really happen
I'm a sad person
I wanted to explore the wasteland forever in Enslaved.
Singularity should have been longer.
Prey should have been longer.
A lot of games should have been longer.
Rune Factory 3. Once you get married you're basically done.
Producing Perfection too. After day 61 you start running out of events.
>>334995783
Persona 4
Now I wish they never continued the story because HOLY FUCK STOP WITH THE SPINOFFS
Harvest Moon games in general.
>>334995783
I hate that general empty feeling you get after you beat a game that really pulls you into its storyespecially when your waifu is in it
spmd
>>334999351
>tfw haven't felt that feel in forever
Most games just shit the bed in the eleventh hour, last too fucking long, or don't even try in the first place.
Sometimes all 3.
>mfw The Witcher 3 is now considered the paramount of writing in video games
>No Transistor
cmon /v/
>>334996094
the end of FFVIII certainly had me going "AND THEN?!" when the last scene played. I really felt there could have been more somehow. Even if the game stopped, I wanted a book or something.
FFX.
I actually would have been fine with just FFX as it was, but then came FFX-2 and it's ambiguous as fuckwhere the fuck did you even come from, Tidus??ending. And to top it all off, they released an audio drama with the HD remake that was recorded just recently that really sets up for an FFX-3. Like, guys. Don't dangle that juicy carrot in front of me and then say you won't go anywhere with it. Why did you even do the audio drama in the first place then??
>>334995783
FF6. Only Bad Part about that game is that there is no Epilogue
Okami. Something about the end made me wanting more.
Also, I felt like the story lost a lot of weight on me after the fight with Orichi , so I guess I just wanted something more like the first half of the game.
>>334998294
Mother 3 was a proper sendoff for the series, it's better the mother series died with dignity then became something it wasn't.

>>335002703
>I've never played it but will shit on it anyway because can't go against /v/'s "indie trash" hivemind
good one
Both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. The fact that I was 10 might have had something to do with it.

Trails in the Sky First Chapter/Second Chapter
Every character was just so damn likable and had great chemistry with each other. I felt like I could watch a Pokemon-tier-Never-Ending-Cartoon about it and never get bored.
Still, that would have mean that vidya's greatest love story would have been stuck in a neverending tease so I guess it's for the better.
Doesn't help the translations for the other Trails games takes for fucking ever.
>>334995783
The original Destiny story.
Portal 1 and 2, and Undertale.
Would've said Avernum 3 but it was like, 60 hours.
A really long and difficult Ring Runner campaign would have been fun, because even if you set the difficulty to max (insane artificial difficulty) then there's no challenge if you've made an amazing ship design.
Borderlands 1
>>335003025
>All those delicious Bungie lies that made you believe Destiny was going to be a true successor to Halo
It still huts.
Suikoden 5
Fuck that was abrupt
>>335003097
I bought the PS4 bundle. I sometimes just look down at the white controller as I play Dark Souls on PC and just feel bad.
All the story that we learned about after and its cool plot twists we never got to experience, all of it gone gone gone gone gone. And then even if we still had it, the heavy handed RNG would just ruin how cool it would have been.
Thanks, Bungie. You ended my favorite story before it even started.
Disgaea 1 felt like the story could've been 2-3 times longer.
>>335003469
Well on the side of "b-but they'll patch it" desperation.
We still have two more games for them to not completely kill it.
But that's just hopeful naivety.
>>335003583
>tfw after learning about what they tried to do to marty
>how everyone thought taken king would fix the game
Even if it gets better, they're not gonna get a dime now. Lessons have been learned.
>>335003908
What happened?
Stopped following the whole game shortly after the I dropped it with the beta.
>>334999515
Wasn't the Witcher games based on novels?
>>334995783
Mass Effect, the first one though. If they made a procedural generated universe for me to take the Normandy crew and explore with my delicious blueberry at my side I'd be so happy.
Ultima 7, it was my first CRPG, and I wish the world had been bigger, new continents, underworlds, etc. That place was atmospheric.
Bastion

Activision changed the trailer music for Destiny from Marty's hard work to something else without even talking with him. He tweeted 'that's not my music' probably as a reflex, and so they started giving him more shit. Activision lorded over Marty's head, threateningto not release the music for Destiny at all.
He also hadn't yet finished the music for the game, either. After recording epic music, he adjusts it with the game so it gets to the right parts at the right time, which is why Halo music was always so rad and often Destiny's was misplaced. He had even made most of the music long before the game even was beyond concept art.
Music of the Spheres was the album, and finally they fire Marty because he kept getting more upset with the direction. Activision tried to make him play ball by not releasing his album at first, but then Bungie got a better idea. Instead, they decided to fire Marty, cut out all his shares in the company. Then, right after, they planned on releasing Music of the Spheres, that way Marty wouldn't get any of the money for his work.
Marty won literally everything out of his lawsuit against Bungie afterwards, they tried to claim he wasn't a founding member of the company at all.
And then for the rest of the game, they just keep adding more timegates and RNG. Like max level is only attainable through raids, and raid groups only want you if you're max level, and you can get absolute garbage raid items thaty ou're otherwise forced to wear and can't change... Garbage like that. And with every DLC, you basically have to abandon everything you worked months for. The game may as well be reset, and you have to go to a new raid to get new gear because vendor gear suddenly outclasses your old raid gear.
Nothing you do has any impact at all except pvp, basically. You're otherwise farming for nothing but to be able to farm the raid more. With a wonderful weekly lockout.
>>335004674
Wow, the death of AAA publishers can not come soon enough.
Glad I dropped the game when I did, thanks for the info, anon.
>>335004002
>>335004674
Then the story was poised for a great twist, both the Light and Dark were parasites, feeding off all of the races and only the Awoken themselves were in the right to pick neither side and it puts a lot more importance on them as a faction, rather than being literally nothing of importance in the current story. And then when the first "arc" finished, they just dropped the mysterious stranger just because... And then you keep fighting enemies but you actually do nothing to their faction, you just kinda move on to another planet...
Nothing you do feels like it matters until the final boss, but then that didn't even feel like much because time travelers can just go back to a time before you do the thing. And then that whole storyline is again dropped for new DLC story that is just as dull and lifeless. If it weren't for Cayde, it would have been slag as well. But one character doesn't make for a story.
>>334995783
Shenmue
>>335004898
Sounds like they literally have no idea how to adjust the game to a lower scope and MMO, because it should have just been another Halo but not Halo series.
And are just hoping something falls in their laps while they distract with DLC and other updates.
Oh well.
>>335002703
>mfw i always thought that pic was a bulbasaur but its actually Link

>>334995783
Witcher 3, the Metro games, only ones I can immediately think of. Mafria II as well, and Red Dead Redemption.
>>335004873
>>335005110
The saddest part is, it came out that it wasn't Activision as the publisher that made the worst decisions, but Bungie themselves.
>>335005524
>but Bungie themselves.
Damn, how can one company fall so hard.
Must be the stress of realizing they should have kept to Halo or that they'll never escape from Halo.
>>335004946
Shenmue 3 soon.
>>335005524
Reminds me of the fiasco that was the Sim City reboot.
Apparently most of the things that made it flop so hard were done by Maxis over the objections of EA.
>>334995783
Dragon's Dogma and Final Fantasy VIII
>>335005716
I don't believe it can be even remotely good compared to the originals. Even with kickstarter and sony backing* the best the developer can do more than a decade later is some half assed low budget ending.

>>334995783
Xenoblade
>>335006053
Yeah, EA execs were afraid that online only wouldn't go over well, but they trusted Maxis to work their magic and make it work.
>>335006027
Who knows, kickstarter has pulled amazing games out of the blue. Shovel Knight was so fantastic and it even has free DLC still planned, and Yooka Laylee and Ghost Song look great so far.
>>335006268
>EA trusts Maxis to make it work

In hindsight I probably shouldn't have.

I'm calling bullshit here, EA execs believe that people like everything they do.
>>334999351
Is it worth getting into Persona?
I'll be starting with any remakes they have of the games an play through in the proper order, naturally :)
>>335006882
The president or CEO of EA actually admitted he knows the social stigmas around EA and wanted to change it.
Odds are he won't even be able to even if he wanted to.
>>334995783
Paper Mario, TTYD
>>335007327
EA is just too big to create high quality, innovative games.
They would need to create some sort of indie thinktank R&D division that hemorrhages money for years, but that might create a good game somewhere down the line.
>>335007327
He showed up to E3 unironically dressed like a fucking spy movie villain.
>>334997758
Luckily, that was the whole point. You always knew that you'd only be there until Spring. Your friends knew, Dojima knew, Nanako knew, and yet, you couldn't help but fall in love with the town and its people. The ending was sad but necessary - bittersweet.

>>335007080
Depends if you like turn-based RPGs and some social simulator elementsand waifus. If so, then they're worth playing.
If you're used to modern games though then the early Personas might be a bit of a tough chew - they definitely show their age. I'd actually recommend starting with 3 (FES or Portable) to see if it's a series that you'd like exploring more of.
>>335008347
Problem, kid?
Don't know how to read, do you? Bet "gaming"'s move to full voice acting was a godsend for you.

I have NO idea how you see a bulbasaur in any way or form. I want to know how you've seen it though.
