The main reason why I use it is because I can parry. Just don't rely on the special attacks unless you actually know when to use them. They absolutely destroy shields but there's no point if you're out of stamina.

I feel like the Deep Battle Axe you can get early in the game is DS3's Drake Sword, the two of which are also similar to the Enchanted Scimitar in Demon's Souls. All that said, the Deep Battle Axe is way easier to stumble onto early on while the other two require prior knowledge to get it quickly.

One of the Darkwraiths right before the Abyss Watchers dropped a Dark Sword for me, I got it to +10 and put a heavy gem in it.
It's just... overpowered to say the least. It's nice because the sword art for it boosts poise and deals a heavy attack that can't be stopped. Plus it has ridiculous range for a one-hander.
Every invader I've come across that was running anything other than a longsword or rapier I've never had an issue in a 1v1.

It was supposed to be a drop given to you during the fight on the bridge but nearly everybody just shot it with arrows.

a) are doing Yuria's end and are therefore hollowed to shit
b) are hollowed past 15
c) have 2 hollow gems to put on a weapon of your choice (preferably with bleed, since luck innately increases your bleed)

That's a LOT of prerequisites, but you get a pretty fun little bleed build and also get to see the majority of the items in the game, since near everyone will be dropping at least one of their items

No, the Drake Sword will soon be obsolete. Just upgrade your Longsword and the will last you the whole game. The easiest way to kill a black knight is with backstabs. Deep Battle Axe you have to beat up an easy Mimic compared to cutting off the tail of a dragon that can backstab you with fire.
The funny thing is that when I got to the mimic, I didn't even notice the billion bloodstains around it and just instinctively hit it due to paranoia, but was like "From wouldn't put a Mimic in the first area of the game, would they?"I attacked every chest in Bloodborne, knowing full well that Mimics did not exist in the game.

I got hit by em from time to time until I realized if you circle strafe them up to their crotch they will never grab you - only if you hit them do they stop turning around and try to attack and you can dodge it.

I've seen plenty of instant action there from sl 40 to 70 with a +7 weapon.
I am just now playing Dark Souls for the first time and since everyone always speaks about it I got the Drake Sword.
I ended up using a Winged Spear I got somewhere instead and then a Halberd. I seem to like spears, what is the best spear in your opinion? I am doing Sen's Fortress right now
