The only reason I collect physical only is because digital is only convenient when it comes to space. But I don't like that I've basically paid for a license to play a game rather than own it outright. Steam could ban me at any time for whatever reason and all of those games are gone for good unless I rebuy them. Games like Scott Pilgrim you flat out cannot buy anymore.
With physical I can loan games to friends. I can have them right there to play when I have children. A hefty collection is impressive looking. Unfortunately for a lot of retro games it's a tough time to start collecting right now though.
I am really proud of my vollection. I have multiple generations of consoles hooked up to my TV from NES to this current Gen.

I'm usually a physicalfag for any game that isn't exclusive digitally. The increasing lack of a instruction manual is becoming disappointing, but even a simple instruction sheet that comes with Nintendo games these days is fine. I'm wondering if I should just get FE: Fates on Eshop now since I'll have to download the other 2 games as DLC anyway, and the reason I like physical games in the first place is because it's mostly "standalone" in the sense that its data is not strictly locked to the console's storage.

The Triple Pack for the PS3 is basically the Handsome Edition update.
It comes with a second disk that has all of the updates and DLC for all three games. You can share it with friends.
I owned part of the DLC already due to the Game of the Year Editions for the first two games, but I owned zero DLC for the Pre-sequel.

When I was living up north, I went to a flea market and thrift shop almost every week. Got a lot of games for next to nothing.
Found a working copy of Earthbound for $0.50 even. Game collections are nice.

I got them for free from my friend when he closed his video game shop. We had been working on a cabinet to put them in when he closed down and he gave me all the boards as thanks for helping him run his store.
I was surprised he just gave them to me since all together those games plus the A board are worth probably around $400-$500.
In Nintendo's case in particular, it really doesn't pay to switch to digital. Their digital prices aren't reduced at all, and there's fuck all space available on their consoles out of the box, so you're only missing out on a cool box to display somewhere. I'm happy with my little shelf collection, I've still got a few games from when I was a kid in the 90s and it makes me happy to see them sitting there. No appeal to ever switch to digital.
Ulgy shelf aside, I like my collection, need to get some good PS1 games for cheap-ish though. Games are leaning because I lent some out to some friends and didn't bother to fix their positions.
