What are some games that are set in the middle east, but are thick with ancient atmosphere and magic?
Only ones I can think of are:
>Pic Related (Prince of Persia 08)
>the rest of the PoP series
>AssCreed 1 aka PoP GTA
Also, why are there no good games set in Egypt?
We get 40 billion games set in Norway 1182, but I can't think of any good games that are about the Egyptian mythos.
What's the deal with this bullshit anyways?
People are lazy and just copy tolkien.
Same boat OP, I was thinking about this a while ago and really all I could think of was shoutout to ICO for having an almost Mesopotamian feel to it. Also some old point/click adventure games take place in or at least have portions of old magical middle east but they're not the immersive experience we're looking for

People associate the middle east with Islam and as such it's a dangerous marketing decision in the West

My sandnigga. Here's mine
>>334893506
I've never played any of these but I hear these mightt:
>shantae
>journey
>Aladdin on SNES/genesis
That's it
still waiting for the day someone makes an rpg set in a fantasy world heavily based on zoroastrian/ancient hellenic culture and mythology

Serious Sam.

Like what? There's Skyrim, that's about it. It's literally one game. It didn't even spawn a viking fad, because no one else even tried to live up to it.
>>334895447
that must weight like 50 pounds nigga
>>334893506
Because games are marketed towards white kids who have little to no interest in anything taking place outside european history/legand.
Insurgency

I think he was being absurd while alluding to 'Generic Fantasy Land - Frosty Mountains Edition'
>>334893506
FF12?
>>334893506
This will never happen because RPGs need to appeal to their key demographic of neckbeards aged 13-19. RPGs can only have white protagonists to succeed. Sand niggers won't cut it

Spotted the sandniggers. Name one thing the Middle East has over Europe.
>>334895331
If it
>borrows from D&D or Tolkien or Nordic mythos
>takes place in a european forest with hamlets and castles dotting the landscape
It might as well be from there, as that's what's "inspiring" the game.
Though we all really know that the real reason so many euro-fantasy games come out is because everyone wants to be the next Elder Scrolls/Witcher/Dark Souls/Sacred/Gothic/Two Worlds/Fable/Shadow of Mordor

Carpets this thick?

Not the thickest but it's made of the finest silk

quest for glory 2 is pretty sweet.
Is it just me or did the Spirit Temple in OoT capture the feeling of Egypt insanely well?
>>334895768
>games are marketed to their paying consumers
Yeah, that makes sense. You don't market say, dish soap to corporate executives who have never washed dishes in their life, or bacon to Jews, or father's day gifts to black people. It just wouldn't make sense.

Islam advocated shaving of the genitles back in the day.
How fucking awesome must it have been to be an invading crusader to crack open your first victim and fine a bald, clean, tanned slice of halal waiting for you.

sorry pal, aladdin is set in a cyberpunk dystopia at least 10 000 years in the future

Greeks were doing that way earlier. Pumice stone to the vag.
>>334896037
The middle east has far more history and encompasses many more civilizations than Europe has. I don't think anyone here is asking for a game set in the modern middle east.

Spec Ops the Line

The fact that Ubisoft were both too stupid, and lazy to make AssCreed in Egypt and Feudal Japan bothers me to this daydon't care about spin offs.
PoP reboot was pretty good though. Easy and linear, sure. Surprised it didn't get a sequel, I think it sold fairly well, and was well received.
I would enjoy a game with Indian influences.
