Beat him yesterday after about 50 tries. The mount is easy once you understand his moveset, there's only one attack that can truly fuck you over (the Lightning slam) and that's only if you have low HP and aren't near the head, where you can successfully dodge out of it without getting hit- otherwise you'll probably get hurt even if you dodge it due to the literal shockwaves. The Lightning ring is actually really good for this fight as most of the Nameless King's damage is purely lightning. Other than that, phase 2 is about rolling rolling hitting and rolling. I got quite fortunate in that I managed to stun him twice. Just keep your health up, focus on dodging his attacks and learning his moveset before trying to exploit his openings. People say you need a fast weapon but I did it with the Profaned Greatsword Roll+r1.

The king himself wasnt overly difficult, though he does punish you pretty hard for making mistakes, especially with his overused 1Hit attack (unless you pile on vigor)
Its the dragon thats annoying. The fact he flies so much and fucks with the camera. If you lock on your camera has parkinsons. If you dont lock on its easy to lose them until they hit you with a thunderbolt.

On NG+, I beat him in one. In the first case, I was level 70 or so with a +9 weapon, in the second I was around 130 with a +10 weapon. It's not that hard of a fight.

The real shame is that he's not the final boss. Don't get me wrong, the final boss is an interesting fight, but it just feels like it's missing context or soul. You're fighting this thundergod on the back of a dragon, and you fucking KNOW this is Gwyn's Firstborn. He's got the countenance and the moves and the look of an ancient olympian badass. Soul of Cinder is justthe guy on the boxart and he switches through various versions of the same shit players can do, like use spells or great swords or polearms. It's neat, but it's not a battle for the ages like Gwyn or Gherman or Allant all were.
Dark Souls 3 blows DaS2 out of the fucking water in just about every category, but the series still has that same feeling of being spread too thin over too large a surface. I hope that interviews are accurate, and that the Dark Souls setting is being retired after this game.
I'm not saying I don't want more Soulsat least not until we get our motherfucking Sci-fi Soulsbut I'd like the series to pursue different settings and aesthetic directions. Bloodborne is the proof that even with considerable changes to core gameplay and an entirely different setting, Souls is still a hit. It's time to put Dark Souls to bed and tell a different story.

I tried to roll a mage character before learned it was complete shit (later learned you can bullshit with the thief ring of this game and that beam spell) It just seemed unfairly designed for new players using magic characters, I was surprised I nearly died as in my mind magic was still cheese mode. It's basically a physical manifestation of the first flame itself, judging to see if you're worthy in the absence of a true lord of cinders. The thing about DaS3 is that you're not killing the biggest and baddest heroes of the age to become a lord youself. You're just scraping the dregs together until you have just enough to keep the fire going, like going through the liquor cabinet and taking the last swig of all the empty bottles until you have just enough to get drunk.
It's literally a case of "Gundyr was late and Lothric doesn't feel like it, so we don't have our fucking Protagonist this time. Fuck it, just get some of the oldies together and we'll light them on fire instead."

The nameless king is just a few slow moves + a gimmick drake phase. His origin is up in the air and you don't feel the gravity of fighting him like you with soul of cinder in a background of a bleeding sun.

I think something went wrong, I was fighting Aldirch and I killed him but he cast a spell that hit me immediately after but the cutscene started. after the cutscene ended I was teleported to the new location and after that died immediately. I actually had much more trouble with the Dragonslayer Armor than with the Princes, I died like 5 times in the armor and beat the princes first try.
How many souls should I save up before cashing in?
I lost all my souls trying to rush to the part where I actually fought what I wanted to fight instead of more trash mobs so I'm wonder when I save up that many souls again when I should spend them.
