What's worse is that Nintendo refuses to ever release Yoshi's Island as Super Mario World 2 and only ever pushes out Super Mario Advanced 3.
>>
>>334839006
But WHY?
>>
>>334839129
I think because Super Mario Advance 3 has those crappy bonus levels.
>>
>>334839006
>>334839129
>>334839247
Actually, it's because of the Super FX chip. Nintendo doesn't own the rights and apparently the owners of it are assholes. As a result, they can re-release any of the games that used it, including Star Fox and Star Fox 2 (which means even though they still have the ROM for 2, we'll never get it). Mario Advance 3 didn't use the FX Chip, so it can be re-released to Nintendo's heart's content.

>Dozens of Minigames

Also, this game is worth noting as one of the few that are objectively better to play on a 3DS.

sm64 DS is awful and people defending is is fucking sad.

Your only option of moving around is with a d pad + run button or awkwardly with a fake analog by using the touch screen, vastly inferior to the original's full analog control. No, playing it on a 3DS does not magically make the game accept analog input, stop being retarded.

it looks like shit because of the DS's super small resolution. The textures and models are better, but the tiny res ruins this.

The entire character switching thing isn't fun, instead of grabbing a special cap and doing a timed challenge, you have to first either be playing the correct character, or go find the hat in the level first. It adds nothing.

None of the extra stars are very good, with the only exception being the area with the goomba king.

It's a butchered remake gimped by being on a system that couldn't play it.

They didn't even bother to fix the one thing people actually have a problem with in sm64, the camera.
>>

Bought DKC for my GBA player.

Colors were so washed out that it felt like I had turned the tinting wayyy up.

They did this with a lot of games because the GBA couldn't back light. Why in the fuck did Nintendo refuse to put a back light in the GBA?

I'm not even talking about a front light, because the original SP had that, and it was no better.

The Game Gear, Turbo Express, Lynx, and even the Gameboy Light had some form of internal illumination. The 3 former of which had been around 10-12 years before the GBA.

Butchered from a graphical standpoint, and only barely playable on O3DS, but damn if it doesn't play better on N3DS than Wii U, which is pretty impressive. Nice to have all the extra content too.

I agree, it could look prettier. However, mechanically it's a decent port on N3DS, who thought releasing on the regular 3DS was a good idea?

Another part of the Game Boy's strategy was that it was cost-effective. A Game Boy was remarkably more affordable than a Game Gear or Lynx ever were and that's part of why it dominated. It was able to be so cheap because the hardware was weaker. I'm guessing when they moved to the GBA they decided to be more conservative when estimating how advanced the system needed to be, how could they predict that the more graphically advanced games of the GBA would be harder to make out on a dark screen than the pixelated, high contrast graphics of the GB and GBC?

The AoE specials lost all it's meaning when you think you cleared a room but enemies still reappear out of thin air even on the New 3DS, probably why they introduced the fairy buff gimmick instead, also the fun of being giant ganon or a giant chicken is completely missing from the handheld.

I actually played 3D first and having played the original on Wii U recently, the change to make walking the default and have a run button was the worst decision made. The mini games are great but if controlling the characters feels bad in the main game, what's the point?

I'm shocked they didn't trust the fans enough to even include a classic control scheme with walking being toggled by the button. I get they were worried about the d-pad being restrictive to movement compared to an analog stick, but come on.

what code did they use? Does code from a SNES game transition to a 64 game?

>They also poached some of our best programmers - Dylan, Giles and Krister - which was inevitable since they had lived in Japan for so long that they weren't going to come home anytime soon.
Why is this even worth mentioning? If Nintendo made them a better offer, maybe you should try to convince them to stay.
