>staggering
That implies you're using a shield like a dumbfuck.
Don't be intimidated by him, the best thing you can do is go straight toe to to with him. Keep dodging his shit until he lands a plunging attack, then run in and stab him twice. Easy fight if you just follow that rule, but there's other ways if you want.

>they're childish and stupid
I Agree, but thats why I love Boss fights. Humans need to pinpoint an evil or conflict to an individual.
Boss fights are basically challenges that test what you've learnt up to that point.
The level was your practice in a free setting and the Boss fights are the exam in an enclosed pressured environment.
Boss fights are powerful and climactic, even if theyre are rather silly in concept.
>>334834934
why are you pretending to have the opinions of a kotaku person? are you shitposting?
>>334834934
Fuck off.
>>334833549
stop getting hit faggot

This. 2011 til now has been nothing but "prepare to die" "artificial difficulty" "gitgud" meme shit and it's soured my outlook on the series as the producers and marketing are literally catering to the difficulty of the games, which really puts them down as they have better aspects like world design and satisfying exploration intimidation.
Best advice for second stage is not to hug him but to keep a short distance away, if you hug yeah you might get a lucky back stab but the aoe on his attacks will fuck you up, they are easier to dodge from a few feet away.
>>334835476
>taking v this seriously
lmao, everyone knows this place is just for shitposting you fugin autist
>>334832931
I unironically agree with you.

Boss fights are the best part.
Yes.
The Souls games are about exploration, encouraging patience, and adapting to different threats.
It is a slow paced series.
But then you die to a boss.
You've seen everything there is to see in an area and now you don't want to be patient anymore.
You don't exercise that caution anymore.
For all you know, that boss could kill you in one hit because he did something you didn't expect, and now all the effort of fighting your way to the boss door could be for nothing because he might just kill you too fast.
Or in dying, you might waste a valuable item that you spent just to prepare for this boss attempt.
Bosses kill the flow and destroy the framework of Souls games.
Every lesson you are taught by its level design is negated when a boss enters the equation.
Thankfully DeS, DaS3 and BB have piss-easy fights for the most part.

That’s brilliant for you. But you’re not everyone. You’re the person ‘Hard’ difficulty levels are built for, while the vast majority play on ‘Normal’. Your desire that games be so punishingly difficulty that only people of your skill can enjoy them is ultimately deeply selfish. Further, it makes no sense that such encounters aren’t optional. Those who adore them get them, those who hate them can carry on playing the game they were loving rather than have to stop and never play the game again.
>make monster big
>give it 1 instant kill attack
>continue to use shit hitboxes
>boss screams loud
>nothing else is different, if not for scale it could be a fuckin regular mob
oh so exciting
