Old 2D Zeldas are shit. Only the Oracles games were decent. LttP is overrated garbage. There has never been a bad 3D Zelda game.
Wind Waker is my favorite 3D Zelda. The sailing never really bothered me and I loved using the telescope to see where islands were on the horizon just so I could check them out. I also really liked all the side content and how some islands actually had a decent amount to do on them (like that whole vacation home side quest were you explore the creepy basement that has redeads in it).
The 2D games are typically better from a puzzle and combat standpoint but the 3D games have their charm.

I played all of them. Twilight Princess was the best overall game for me and I've never seen any legit criticisms against it other than meaningless buzzwords that can apply to the other games as well. But I don't need to hate the other games because they were all great. As for the non-3D zelda gamesAdventure of Link was also good in its own way

I couldn't even finish Skyward Sword. The linearity of it really killed the game for me. Enjoyed the boat dungeon and thought a lot of the mechanics were cool but overall the game seemed really boring.
I was hyped to explore the sky and find all sorts of neat shit, but the sky is fucking empty and the ground is just linear progression.

LttP is fantastic. All of the 3D games have overworlds that feel drastically smaller than LttPs overworld, which is really sad.

The focus on Hyrule field was fucking dumb, Hyrule field was a substitute for the over world in older Zelda games that OoT had to use because of the limited space in 3D games at the time. There were items that had extremely limited uses, like that top that could only run on that track.
I dunno, something about TP didn't live up to the hype for me. It was a good game but it just felt like a 7/10. Or a8.8

Oracle of ages has a much more limited world map, and from what I've seen of the dungeons those are also much smaller.

Majora's Mask isn't overrated at all. It just excels at trying something different. The only problem it has is that it starts standing out a lot when Clock Town has more going on than most overworlds in the rest of the series. It has things people like from Zelda, like the charm and characters, but it then expands upon them through backgrounds and the Groundhog Day system. They always work as sidequests that give you different rewards than just Pieces of Heart, which even when the Masks are useless, still build to something better.
MM is just a reminder of how empty 3D Zeldas get sometimes and how little there is to do in the world.
