I really enjoy playing as him ; Other players only use him to fuck with other players so I get alot of hate when I pick him.

I used longswords/shortswords in dark souls 1 and 2, they were shit, but I managed it. In 3 they've made it too easy since the longswords do the most damage.

Punches in Dark Souls, can't do enough damage so late game battles take forever, and by then you can't stun larger monsters so you have very narrow attack windows

They're all very different. I wouldn't say it's better but in the least equally as good. But yeah it doesn't get mentioned enough, honestly I never actually saw it getting mentioned at all, I just found out about it by looking at his wikipedia page years ago.
I would imagine it's the subject matter that turns people off, on paper a manga about wheelchair basketballs sounds a little silly, but the actually is almost a backdrop for the character development, it doesn't focus on the games as much as Slam Dunk does.
